Eagles dismiss Juan Castillo and name Todd Bowles defensive coordinator.

They couldn't play when it mattered in the 4th quarter, they lost both of those games.

They actually have one of the best defenses in the league, it's not totally surprising though. They have too much talent to only be good.

a team with real expectations, under-achieving

the person hand-picked by the HC, gone because he could not get the job done

vs the cowboys

no accountability
no urgency

just more talk

The Philadelphia Eagles have fired defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and promoted secondary coach Todd Bowles into the position, the team announced Tuesday via its Twitter account.

Castillo's firing comes after the Eagles blew a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter of Sunday's overtime loss to the Detroit Lions to fall to 3-3.

On Monday, coach Andy Reid had said Castillo would continue to make the defensive play calls but that everything about the team would be evaluated during the bye week.

The person that thought a oline coach could become a defensive coordinator should be fired as well. Making Juan Castillo the scapegoat is b.s.

Makes you think, what was Andy Reid thinking, with that hire. Looks like ALL NFL coaches have brain farts once in a while, even good ones.

Todd Bowles going to some how stop Vick from fumbling and turning the ball over? :laugh2:

Yes the predictable, obvious poster who ties everything that every other team does to the Cowboys for no reason. The Eagles have underachieved since they started this whole Dream Team nonsense. Castillo and the defense aren't the sole reason why they have underachieved.

Also making this move guarantees nothing but I'll leave it to you to tell us how much better the Eagles are for making a move like this.

He'll also be able to solve the lack of touches Shady McCoy gets as well. Don't forget that.

This would be a bit too late for them, but still shows accountability.

Should Joe D go?

Not necessarily but when a organization is falling apart someone has to be the scapegoat. And since Reid is under pressure to perform then he has to make it look like he is trying to do something to save his job.

I'm surprised. It was a stupid move to make him DC in the first place.

Someone should get him as OL coach.

So it was the defensive coordinator's fault that Andy Reid refused to run the ball with a late lead? And it was the defense committing those 4-5 turnovers every game?

The Eagles issues are Reid and Vick's fault.

But carry on, Philly. :disseags:

Anyone remember Todd Bowles here in Dallas as the DBs coach?

What did Nnamdi say?

He didn't understand why he was taken away from covering Megatron in the 4th qtr when he was doing a good job in shutting him down the 1st 3 quarters.

I agree sometimes a shake up like that catches players and other staff members attention as well. It will be interesting to see if Philly continues to line up on the defensive front as they have been where they tend to leave a big gap in the middle of the defensive front
