Judge shuts down fantasy football betting in NY

The attorney general of NY is now asking for all the money lost by customers of daily fantasy sports leagues, who live in New York, have their money returned AND a $5,000 per case penalty to would be attached.

Based on a user base of 600,000...

That's a cool $3 billion dollars.

Jerry had better get out the check-book.

Maybe I'm numb to their commercials, but I can't recall seeing one in a while. I may be completely wrong as I haven't watched a ton of football last couple weeks

Wow, this guy is going for the jugular...maybe he's pissed that they would not bribe him.

I noticed the same thing too. Their commercials seems to have vanished from football.

Ya he's playing hardball. Guess he wasn't happy his cease and desist order got stayed.

Given the civil lawsuits these companies are facing from users and now the government, it sure is a lot of trouble coming their way.

I can't help but laugh at how one employee winning a couple hundred thousand got the whole ball rolling on this. Granted, the incessant commercials didn't help, but it was really that whole "inside info"'controversy that kicked this movement off.

It was going to happen anyway.

You're absolutely right.

This business model was going to get a thorough going over by the regulatory folks at some point.

All along from day 1 my thoughts were... "This thing is loose ... Unclear, undefined ... Unregulated" = $$$$ who's not getting $$$ ... Who's BIG toes are they stepping on $$$

Exactly... they were making up the rules as they went.

Always got a chuckle out of their "skill-based" argument.

As if there's anything you can actually do to influence the outcome any particular player will provide. If this is skill, then PowerBall is skill.

My powerball losings > my powerball winnings

Don't feel too bad, my losings are greater than my winnings. But one day.....and I think it will be this Wednesday.....I'm gonna win $400M. If you like I'll send you a nice postcard from all the places I visit.

If you don't take the cash option monthly payments on that are over $1.3M before taxes.

I've always said I would go with the cash option, but.....I may go annuity.

I'm young enough to collect it all, not quite greedy enough to care about how much more I could have made through investing, and just bad enough with money to end up like one of the countless idiots who blew their fortune.
