From the nerve center of Air America Cowboys, operating from the 50,000-watt transmitter in Farmers Branch, where our IQs are higher than them of rural Mississippi, some rational and informed commentary.

Gather round, little fellers. It seems that JJ has talked himself into a challenge.
Julius "Mr. Robot" Jones, barring injury or a giant meteorite striking the earth, will run for 1,600 yards this year.

It seems that JJ has unloaded on Parcells. He says man boobs made his run and react like a robot last season. That is open to debate, but now the man has shed himself of excuses.

Time to put up or shut up, JJ.

And I think that junior man boobs will give him the latitude to run and give him a running sheme that take advantage of JJ's moves.

Added, too, with even a slight improvement and cohesion of the O line, there is no reason why JJ cannot run for 100 yards every game he starts and finishes.

He'll be running for his professional and financial life and something else that is just as big a motivation: proving man boobs wrong about his abilities and desire.

I think JJ will have a huge year for 2 reasons.

1. It is a contract year.

2. It was "known fact" 2 years ago that Parcells urged him to protect the ball and run differently, but now it is suddenly news.

Many people call it an excuse around here but I for one agree with JJ.

He ran so differently his 1st season with us and then there was all of a sudden a change.

RBs just don't change their styles over night, something happened...

But Parcells was the original man boobs.
Maybe Man Boobs II?

Other than that, blah, blah, blah.

I find it hard to believe that Julius has all this ability and not once strayed from what Parcells wanted just to prove he could produce like everyone was dreaming about.

Either hes full of crap or was deathly scared of parcells.

Not Parcells but of Parcells giving MBIII his spot hes like any pro wants to play and to keep his starting spot. In that position especially if the coach seems to be favouring your competition you dont do anything your coach doesnt tell you to because it will lose you your spot. Notice the first year we heard from JJ more than most players under Parcells despite the fact he was injured for half the season then the next 2 years we hardly heard from him at all. I wonder why?Didnt want to accidentally shoot his mouth off?

I don't think anyone can reasonably say there's "no reason why" Julius can't rush for 1,600 yards. I'll give you one reason: Marion Barber.

Unless Barber gets hurt, I don't see Julius surpassing 300 carries, which means he'd have to average at least 5.33 yards per carry to reach 1,600 yards. If Julius gets the same number of carries as he did last season (267), he'd have to average 6.0 yards per carry.

While either of those is theoretically possible, those are astronomical expectations for any running back to live up to. And teams with two running backs sharing carries don't have 1,600-yard rushers. A better expectation would be staying healthy (again) and increasing his average per carry. His total yardage, ultimately, will depend on the breakdown of carries between him, Barber and whoever else lines up in the backfield.

Agreed. Same with Spears and James.

i think Jones total yards may reach 15-1600 if he is involved in more pass plays.

Maybe something like 11-1200 rush yards, 400-500 rec yards.

If it's true that Wade wants a power running game, then I personally think MBIII will be on the field for the first play of the game on day 1.

I expect MBIII to get 15-20 carries a game and Julius to get 8-10 carries.

Obviously, I just want the best RB on the field most of the time, and the coaches will decide who that player is. I think it will be MBIII.

So Julius was so afraid that he not 1 single time in the last 2 years went to his old form? Not once in a game where Dallas was winning big. Not once in the lions game where a win/loss didn't matter. Not once last year in the Rams game where the season was over? Not once in the preseason?

Its just too much for me to believe that he has all this ability and didn't ever do it at all. I wish he was everything he said he could be and everything we were all hoping for but Im leaning towards the not.

Reasonable doubts, yes.

But why do you and many more assume that Wade will go with a two-back offense much like Parcells did last year?

Maybe Wade is a traditionalist. A starting RB and a backup. And a third-stringer.

If Wade is a "change of pace" type of guy, yeah, he'd use both MBIII and JJ.

If not, and if JJ is THE starter, he can very well get his 100 yards (or more per game) and reach 1,600.

If it's a shared burden, naturally, JJ will be hard-pressed to get anywhere over 1,000 yards.

I think Parcells was and is hardheaded and had a man crush on MBIII. Or he wanted to punish JJ for some reason. Parcells does not like some players, period. And he does punish some.

JJ was going great.
Then his production fell.
Why?
Was it scheme, was it the "rest" JJ got?
Was it that MBIII was so much better?
Hope camp and the season roll around soon so we can find out.

I beleive someone asked wade what his approach would be and i cant remember what was said exactly, but i do remember him saying when you have a back like tomlinson, you use him as an everydown back. The implication that i got from the interview was that jones and barber would share carries.

At least one a week until halfway through preseason. They will vary only in the OP or title, but like Grim Death, they will come a'knocking with regularity.:(

Find something better to complain about.
Give me a break. Just a loyal Cowboy fan posting his opinions. About a potentially explosive offensive team. Opinions. (To quote Allen Irverson). It's just opinions, man. Opinions, just opinions man. Something like that.)
Which happen to be right.

Hey, how do you think JJ will do?

btw: I used to have a black lab. Named him Zero. What a good dog he was. :)
