Julius Jones and Irvin Similarities

This was an item brought up on the Ticket this morning. Anyone else get a little tense seeing the offense put up a good drive where JJ maybe has 3 carries for 25 yards on the drive to get down to the 5 and all of sudden he has to come out of the game for MBIII. It reminds you of back in the day where Aikman hits Irvin down inside the 5 and we hand off to Emmitt who gets the TD. I know it's a receiver vs running back but it still sucks for JJ. I wonder how he feels about it. Hopefully does what he needs to do to become a better runner inside the 5.

I think it has a lot to do with the running backs style of play and Parcells concern that Julius not take too many hits. In the red zone, there's a lot of bodies packed closely together and less room for Julius too use his speed/elusiveness while Barber is just a power back with some speed who delivers a punch against defenders.

JJ and MBIII are role players. Inside the 5 is MBIII role. That simple.

I just think MBIII is the better short yardage back and that's why he gets in there. It just sucks for JJ that he has to come out. I think the guys on the Ticket and I were wondering if there's any tension on the sideline, especially with Jones when he has to come out especially when he contributes heavily to getting down there. The thread isn't a big deal.

Absolutely.

That, and it's working.

I used to laugh when Irvin would get shoved out of bounds at the half yard line. We all knew what was coming. So did Irvin. But he was a great teammate and knew Emmitt would score. That's all that mattered. He was the first one to congratulate Emmitt. JJ was congratulating Barber on the sidelines.

If it works, they both win and so do we.

It's very simple: J.Jones' best advantage is not thorugh the tackles but in the second an third levels against LB's and the secondary. Barber's best advantage is thorugh the tackles and less so in second an third levels against LB's and the secondary. By using the two RBs as they are, the Cowboys are taking advantage of both players' advantagees and are mounting a running game that cannot be stopped.

barber is taking his spot...soon enough he will get more carries than him...oh dont look now that already happened! i love barber because he finds the yards that dont look like they are there...he makes them

I'm sure Julius is upset he doesn't get the score, but that also makes him hungry to break a long one to get it himself, as you saw with his drive against the Colts to the one last week.

I'd love JJ to get the TDs, but we need his legs for in between the 20s, MB inside the 20s. Just helps each other out.

and a pretty well thought out thread then becomes infected with MB homer garbage.

No room on a Parcell's coached football team for egos. This is a team effort, and the Cowboys as a whole are getting more confident, stronger, and obviously better for it!

They showed Barber coming off the field after his second TD (I think his second) and there was JJ low fiving him. JJ is a team player, I doubt he cares who scores as long as we win.

No question JJ is a team player, he's been congradulating Barber w/ hugs and slaps on all of his TD's, he's usually the first to greet him on the sidelines. They are a great 1-2 punch, probably the best in the league. Come to think of it, the Boys have a lot of "Best in the league" things going on right now. :)

He might be PO'ed, but I"d be surprised if he gets vocal about it. Getting injured the last two years has diminished his ability to complain. A lot of people outside of Dallas fans are saying Barber is better, if JJ starts to berate the coaches he is going to get a bad rep and just seem bitter. I believe he is a decent bloke and isn't stupid enough to do that. It would have to be some kind of record to be on the same team as TO and Vanderjagt and say the most moronic things.
