The only difference I can see is one thing - Tony Sparano took over the OL in 2005, after 2 years as TE coach.

nope remember he has no "vision" and isn't a semi truck and makes defenders bounce off of him

well marion barber doesn't have a problem finding holes since tony took over as o-line coach

This isn't necessarily untrue. I was just thinking about why it was so difference at that time, and I seem to remember that when we ran well with Jones before 2004 (and 2005, at times), that our OL seemed to run block differently. It made me thing that even when Barber runs, he seems to have to make something out of nothing (but he is doing a better job).

PS - I'm not making excuses for Jones - this could have nothing to do with it. He really has some lower body strength issues and just can't seem to always run mad (although he does against Seattle for some reason). I just thought it was funny because the runs I think of where he does well, the OL seems to have blocked differently.

Sure he does- he just makes a hole when none is there.:D

Ummm...the holes AREN'T there. That is one good thing about Barber....he is making something out of virtually nothing.

Try watching the blocks.

Barber has to continually bounce around to try to find a hole and alot of times has to bounce it outside. Remember last weeks' 4th down, which was supposed to go off-tackle? He had to bounce it way outside. Just hope we don't face a quick defense soon (Chicago this week) that can take away the bounces to the outside.

There actually WAS a hole on that run....I could have run that one in.

Whatever.....yet another guy who wishes bad things on one of our players....why can't you just be happy that we won and we have 2 RB's on this team that compliment each other well?

I'll bet you were jumping for joy when JJ had that run that was called back due to holding, huh? I'll bet you are that type of fan.

Don't kid yourself. You and Julius both would have found the pile.

Jones has been figured out. The difference between 04 and now is that in 04 opposing teams diddnt have film on him, and the fact that Jones came in fresh after a long layoff going against guys that had half a season of wear and tear.

He didn't HAVE to bounce it way out wide last week. He just chose to. The yard needed for the 1st down was there for the taking. Not that I'm complaining. Whatever works.

v.s. the bears we are going to want to have jujo, and hopefully he acts like the scat back he is because ive seen the bears take down the runners who try and bulldoze their way through the defense

Meh...the Bears take down runners regardless of how they try to get through their defense.

they have a harder time though versues the ones who can move east and west while going north due to them being overly agressive.

granted vs the chargers they just blew up their oline causing LT to not do a dang thing

If you look at the teams Jones piled up his yards on in 2004, they were all weak defenses especially against the run. I also remember a majority of his yards coming off draw plays - especially in the Seattle game he did so well in. It seemed like every run in that game was a draw - and Seattle was doing a horrible job of tackling.

I said it at the time - I thought his stats were very padded in that stretch. It doesn't surprise me he's not the beast he was hyped up to be.
