it seems to me julius jones has largely disappeared from our offense.

he has not had 100 yards in a game since week 6. he has not averaged 4 yards per carry since week 6 -- all against the mighty houstan texans.

i expected more from him. did i overexpect?

what gives?

Personally I think Barber needs to get the ball more often. Barber always seems to make positive yards, has better vision (imo) and just makes plays. All I hear about is how slow he is yet everytime Dallas has a 20+ yard run its him.

He has disappeared and we are rolling. Barber plays and all he does is score touchdowns,

kinda reminds you of the critiques you would hear about good old number double deuce, "slow, has good vision and is hard to bring down"

Jones has disappeared because Barber is the better player.

I really don't see why this is so hard for people to see.

Earlier this year people would call you crazy, but I totally agree with you. Barber seems to be the more complete back - while Jones seems to be just lost these days.

You know earlier in the year maybe I would have been crazy to say it...Maybe.

But now there is no doubt in my mind. Barber is the better player.

Hey Superpunk. I told you once and I will tell you again. Frank Gore is better than Julius Jones! :D :D :D

Yes, even though he only had 40 yards yesterday. They stacked the line against him.

In the PC this week BP said that he would hope to split the carries 2-1 in favor of Jones and then quickly changed it to 50/50 if I remember correctly.

BArber just fit the game better yesterday IMO, we were passing alot and the pressure was heavy. I am not sure what to think of it, but you sure can't argue against it with the production Barber is giving. He is a very different type of back. I will be curious to see if the table turns and he gets a 2-1 ration from here on out.

I think Troy said yesterday that the Giants defense even told him that they are more concerned about Barber than they are for Julius. Its funny how Barber is usually carrying the ball when the games on the line and on crucial drives - the secret is out Bill. Barber > JuJo is official.

I'm a big Julius Jones fan, partly because he's from Virginia. I have to admit there was little doubt who was the better back last night.

I wonder if the defenses are just geared up with a game plan against Julius, and that's why they don't defend against Barber as well? I dunno.

I think Barber just had the better game. I like both of our backs and who ever has the hot hand in a game is the guy who needs to be getting the ball. I don't worry about who is starting because the bottom line is both guys are going to get oppertunities in the game.

I've been a strong proponent of Julius all year, thinking if he is stopped, we aren't as good, but I felt that way with Bledsoe early on.

I'm more than happy to put my foot in my mouth with Barber being a steadier guy than Jones as everyone did with Romo blowing our minds over Bledsoe.

I think Jones has quickness, but it pretty much ends there. He doesn't see very well, he doesn't have the juke ability, he cannot cut very well (especially considering he can't see the field well)

I see Jones as someone who plays on his physical ability only. I think he lacks all the tools beyond that.

Barber seems to have some vision going for him.

but it doesnt really matter. parcells is deciding to run barber and julius 50/50 and I think that is the right move.

they both need to play.
i love it that they are both in on plays now.

I was a big apologist for Jones but I am beginning to think we need to start Barber.

that's the thing tho. JJ has shown spurts of juke ability but lately have you seen make anyone miss? chicago in his first game, carolina last year.

maybe it's just that when the holes are scarce, it is better to use Barber more in games where the defensive line is allowing only tough yards and in games where the OL can open big enough holes, then it is better to use JJ more, since he can break longer runs

Agree--there were two plays that JJ wouldn't have made, the touchdown draw play and the one ere he came back and creamed the guy so TO could get a few more yards, its not that he's a better athlete, its that he plays every play like its lights out, he has energy and brings it like Shockey does..
