When there's a nice hole this guy looks great. When there isn't as much he seems to run directly into the pile and get nothing. He's fairly elusive and fast but doesn't break many tackles or hit the hole downhill with great authority. In short, I think I'd like him better if we were spreading things out more in 3 WR sets which we don't run a lot. He's not a back that's really going to wear down a defense or get you the tough yards against a quality line, especially with our mediocre run blocking.

I'm rambling because to win in this division against 3 aggressive defenses we need to move the chains with the running game. Having a guy that can get you 3-4-5 yards a carry consistently against tough D's is better than four 2 yard runs and a 12 yarder. Between stuffed runs and a slew of penalties how many 3rd and longs did we have against the Jags? That's not a winning formula with Bledsoe at QB. I'm not a JJ hater but after watching NE play Sunday a bit I think we would have been better off taking whatever the Jets were offering for Jones and drafting Lawrence Maroney in the 1st round. That guy is a faster bigger Marion Barber.

I know this isn't going to happen because BP doesn't yet trust Tyson Thompson to block the blitz, but I'd like to see him get some carries against Washington. That guy hits the hole hard and fast which is a good fit with our line. He can also get to the edge as fast or faster than Jones so you can't just run blitz up the middle. Just my 2 cents.
