I'm watching Espn and Merrill Hodge just said that JJ would be the surprise player in week 4? It's about time JJ gets some respect....

I'm not sure he is saying that out of respect for Jones or the fact that Tenn is giving up an average of 163 yards a game thus far.

what does he base it on? Hell I could say that in a crap shoot, and have a 50/50 chance of looking like a genious.

No offense directed towards you, but I'm so sick about hearing how Julius is going to break out and finally become what we thought he was after that stretch in his rookie year.

It's realy quite depressing to think about what he did as a rookie, and what he has done since.

I'm a bit more upbeat about Jones future evidently than you are. I feel his main problem has been the injuries that he has had to deal with in his 1st 2 seasons here. I think if he can stay healthy he will produce like most of us hoped he would when he was drafted.

jones is off to a better start than his rookie year. rookie year 4.2 pc, this year 4.5 pc
actually he said that because coming off an off week jj does real well and we are playing a poor run defence.

Regarding JJ. I need to see more running like the Deadskins game on a consistent basis before I get all gitty about him. He seems too easy to go down and just doesn't look hungry when running the ball.

Sure if you give him a hole he'll run through it in a hurry. However, the best backs even if they rush for a total less than a hundred yards, can make an impression especially if they run very hard for the few yards that they do get.

I like what I saw out of JJ last game and I need to see a little more of Barber in JJ's game before I even think about buying a JJ bus ticket.

The Titans will want Bledsoe to beat them in the air if Owens is out so they will run blitz to stop Jones. Jones will earn every yard against the Titans.

You assume that the Titans can do what they gameplan to do. I am not so confident of that.

Name more than two RBs that have played for us who were a threat to take to the house any given play; with apologies to Emmitt who doesn't make that roster IMO.

well its probably more having to do with Merrill Hodge hating the Titans more than he respecting J.Jones. Yes i know the Titans suck but it seems he always takes the chance to bash the titans ever since they drafted Vince Young. It's almost to the point where it looks like he actually hates the guy, because he goes overboard bashing him.

Well you're entitled to your opinion but Thomas was not considered a home run hitter as I remember it.

The other two make the roster IMO. I'm not putting Jones on any roster yet. But he's a threat altho I doubt he'll ever make the company of TD or Walker.

Id say he's had two very stellar games so far. You take out some holding penalties against Wash. and he has an even bigger game.

He played pretty well against Jacksonville, who have a good defense last time I checked.

Emmitt didn't have the pure speed, but the thing he did have that mad get beyond the line of scrimmage and past the secondary before they had time to react. From then it was a footrace, which wasn't Emmitt's strong suit by any means, but he often won the battle because of the head start he had.

At this point JJ falls well short of Emmitt in the "homerun threat" department, because production is worth infinitely more than potential.

I don't put Emmitt in the 'he could go all the way' roster as I would Dorsett or Walker.

I won't argue with you because you have a great case.

I was thinking of Emmitt as a RB who was game planned every game but as someone who will gain chunks if you let him. Not necessarily speed to turn the corner. I'm not saying anything new here.

I guess I think of Walker and Dorsett as inside and outside runners who can outrun secondaries as well as DL/LBs. Emmitt just doesn't have that kind of speed.

He just had enough to gain more yds than anyone. :D

I still think JJ has more speed and that, IMO, has to be game planned, too.

Just semantics.
