1. Cleveland Browns – RB Saquon Barkley, Penn State

· The Browns, having traded for QB Tyrod Taylor, can afford to wait till pick #4 for a QB, and take the best player in the draft

2. NY Jets – QB Sam Darnold, USC

· The Giants have committed to Eli Manning, and have last year’s 3rd round pick, QB Davis Webb, as his understudy. Despite the great need across the board for the Jets, they simply cannot continue without a QB. After losing out on Cousins, they choose to trade picks 6, 37, 49 & a 2019 2nd round pick to the Giants for pick #2

3. Buffalo Bills – QB Josh Rosen , UCLA

· From the moment the Bills traded their starting QB to the Browns, the Bills were all-in on trading up for a QB in the 2018 draft. The Bills trade picks 21, 22, 53 & 65 to the Colts for pick 3, and get the QB they want.

4. Cleveland Browns – QB Baker Mayfield, Oklahoma

· The Browns like Mayfield better than the other top QB’s anyway. According to their metrics people, they believe he has the best profile for success.

5. Denver Broncos – QB Josh Allen, Wyoming

· Elway sees a bit of himself in the strong armed Josh Allen, and is convinced he can teach him to lose his bad habits

6. NY Giants – LB Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia Tech

· The Giants traded for OLB Alec Ogletree, and now they get an uber-talented, but raw player to man the middle LB position

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DE Bradley Chubb, N.C. State

· The early run on quarterbacks works in favor of the Buccaneers, who land the best pass rusher in the draft, and fills a huge need

8. Chicago Bears – OG Quenton Nelson, Notre Dame

· The Bears need receivers, but they are almost as desperate for offensive linemen. Nelson is the 2nd best player in the draft, and the Bears will wait until the 2nd round to address the receiver position

9. San Francisco 49ers – DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, Alabama

· The Niners lose Eric Reid in Free Agency, and fill the hole with a 5-tool player who can play both safety spots, and cover nickel receivers in the slot

10. Oakland Raiders – LB Roquan Smith, Georgia

· Smith fills a huge hole, one of many, on the interior of the Raiders defense

11. Miami Dolphins – WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama

· The Dolphins unloaded a heavy contract in their trade of Jarvis Landry to the Browns, but find a replacement immediately in the draft

12. Cincinnati Bengals – OT Connor Williams, Texas

· The Bengals offensive line needs to be completely rebuilt, and the Bengals start with the top Left Tackle prospect in the draft

13. Washington Commanders – DT Vita Vea, Washington

· The Commanders need a starting RB, but they choose to beef up their run defense instead, drafting the big man from Washington

14. Green Bay Packers – S Derwin James, Florida State

· The pass defense for the Packers has been atrocious, and a player like Derwin James can help reverse that. The young corners need help in the middle of the field, and James can do that

15. Arizona Cardinals – QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville

· The Cardinals need a starting QB, and they need help on the offensive line. Jackson’s escapability and speed can help them offset the holes in the offensive line, and the former Heisman winner can spin the ball also.

16. Baltimore Ravens – OLB Harold Landry, Boston College

· The Ravens need Wide Receiver help. But GM Ozzie Newsome knows that Terrell Suggs is near the end, and he wants to replenish the pass rush. The Ravens identity is their defense, and they’ll make do with lesser receivers

17. Los Angeles Chargers – OT Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame

· Phillip Rivers needs protection. McGlinchey steps in immediately as the new starting Right Tackle.

18. Pittsburgh Steelers – LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise State

· The Steelers need to jump ahead of the Colts and the Cowboys to get the LB they need to replace Ryan Shazier, who was lost to injury to them last season. The Seahawks get picks 28 & 60 in exchange for pick 18.

19. Dallas Cowboys – LB Rashaan Evans, Alabama

· The Cowboys need a replacement for Anthony Hitchens, who signed with the Colts in free agency. Evans has the skill set to call the defensive plays even when Sean Lee gets hurt.

20. Detroit Lions – DT Da’Ron Payne, Alabama

· The Lions bolster their interior line by drafting DT Payne

21. Indianapolis Colts – RB Derrius Guice, LSU

· Frank Gore is well past his prime, and the Colts need to give Andrew Luck another weapon to protect him from harm.

22. Indianapolis Colts – OG Isaiah Wynn, Georgia

· The Colts have to protect Andrew Luck to have any chance to win, and start their overhaul of the offensive line with Wynn

23. Los Angeles Rams – OG Will Hernandez, UT El Paso

· The Rams exploded on offense last year, and have spent the off-season revamping their defensive secondary. They still have a weak spot on the Oline, and Hernandez will step in as immediate starter at Offensive Guard

24. Carolina Panthers – CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State

· The Panthers defense hasn’t been the same since losing Josh Norman in a contract dispute. Ward fills that gap

25. Tennessee Titans – OLB Marcus Davenport, UT San Antonio

· Brian Orakpo is getting older, and the Titans replenish their pass rush.

26. Atlanta Falcons – DT Taven Bryan, Florida

· Bryan just happens to fill a very much needed spot on the interior defensive line for the Falcons, who need to create an interior pass rush

27. New Orleans Saints – TE Hayden Hurst, South Carolina

· Drew Brees needs more weapons than Michael Thomas. Hurst becomes a replacement for traded TE Jimmy Graham

28. Seattle Seahawks – OT Orlando Brown, Oklahoma

· The Seahawks need to protect Russell Wilson. Despite his poor Combine showing, the tape show a player to can match up with Defensive Ends in the NFL.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars – WR Courtland Sutton, SMU

· With two free agent Wide Receivers, the Jaguars opt to take the more economical route by drafting a replacement.

30. Minnesota Vikings – OT Kolton Miller, UCLA

· The Vikings won the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes, and find an OT to protect their new QB.

31. New England Patriots – RB Nick Chubb, Georgia

· The Patriots need a work horse RB, and Chubb fits the bill.

32. Philadelphia Eagles – OT Chukwuma Okorafor, Western Michigan

· OT Jason Peters is getting too old, and the Eagles need to protect themselves from him getting injured. The Eagles opt to keep both Wentz and Foles going into 2018.

2 nose tackles, 2 offensive guards not named Quenton Nelson and 4 none pass rushing linebackers are not going to go ahead of the top rated cornerback and a legit top 10 talent in Denzel Ward

In this scenario I'd much rather have Payne or even Ward.

I like Evans, but he's a pretty raw dude still learning the position.

I'd also be absolutely shocked if Ward falls out of the top 15 let alone top 20. I think he could compete with Fitz as the first CB off the board.

Great effort,
I hate our pick tho, anytime u start the explanation of our first round draft pick with "the cowboys need a replacement" you lose me.
We should never, ever draft for need unless it happens to be the best player available or highest rated on the board, why pay scouts to ignore them?
No way Denzel slips that far hes to good!
In this senario Id take Hernandez, Wynn, Payne or Davenport in that order

Thanks for the effort.
Seems early for Evans and there's several others taken later that I'd prefer. But then again, it's not mock draft.

Ward goes top twelve.
I do think Evans is underrated, but not sure I take him at #19.

Denzel Ward is the no brainer pick in this scenario however he doesn't get out of the top 12.
He is a legit shut down corner.

I would take Wynn or Hernandez over Evans.
No way the Giants pass up Quenton Nelson. Offensive line is there biggest need and Nelson is BPA in that slot for sure.
Please for the love of God don't let Vea get taken by the Commanders.

Love your draft savvy & won't even pretend to hold the matches, let alone a candle to you. BUT...is Webb really that guy to where NY passes on all of the QBs available? Or do you think this class is that weak?

I went back and forth on that, honestly. I argued with myself a long time about whether the Giants commit to Eli. Ultimately, I went with what Gettleman and Shurmur are saying publicly, and decided the Giants would prefer to trade down if the right offer comes in.

My Sources tell me that the Giants still believe in Eli for a couple of years and are very satisfied with the development of Webb who may get a Chance if Eli is done.

My bet is that the Giants take Nelson at #2.

I also dont see Ward dropping to 24. He will go Top 15 most likely. If the Cowboys have a Chance at 19 and dont take him i might throw my TV out of the Window.

This draft reminds me of the 1989 draft, with a top QB, top OL, top RB, top Pass Rusher, top DB, and top LB.

In 1989, it was Aikman, Mandarich, B.Sanders, D. Thomas, Deion, and B. Thomas
In 2018, it is Darnold, Nelson, Barkley, Chubb, Fitzpatrick, and R. Smith

Even in his heyday I was never a big Eli fan. I didn't think he was a bad QB, just not a great one. I'm sure a bunch of NYers think exactly the same about Romo.

I miss Jumbos handsome face as his avi. He's got a jumbo head but a button nose.

Agree. Why u think Ward falls so much? I have never seen him make it past the Top 12 in the last Weeks.

Also i would be very fine with Evans. Have mocked him to the Cowboys in my recent Mock here.

And I don't think Chubb goes out of the top 5. Not in a weaker elite DE/pass rushing class.

except if the next 3 teams take a QB also, which would take the RB if Cleveland took a QB 1st? if they did the qb scatter they then can get the QB *and* rb they want and with jarvis landry there they got a great trio for awhile.

Evans is looking even better if Hitchens to KC is true. The Ward pick is the only major anomaly with respect to consensus. Somebody always drops but I haven’t been thinking him as that guy.
