Just a couple of thoughts on the game...

About the backups.

- Don't know what the hell people are looking at that say Carpenter is non-existent. He forced a fumble, had great pressure a few plays later and almost got the sack, then he almost gets an int later in the game (him and Singleton hit eachother while going for the ball).

- Tyson Thompson isn't gonna see the field - on offense - if he keeps missing his blitz pickups.

- Parcells wanted to know how Romo would react to getting blasted from the blindside... Well, today he gets nailed (thanks to Tyson Thompson) and fumbles the ball. Next play he stands poised in the pocket, looks off the safety, and delivers a 28 yard pass (on 2nd and 21). I'd say he reacted rather well.

- Rector just made the team. Personally, I think we only need 5 WRs. Hurd and Rector are my #4 & 5 (not necessarily in that order) so that leaves Skyler Green out. I haven't been impressed with Green at all this preseason anyway. I wouldn't keep a 6th WR just to give a spot to Green. IMO, he hasn't earned it. I'd hope like hell we could get him on the practice sqaud though.

All good points and I agree completely. Except I though it was Burnett that knocked the INT away from Carpenter...not that it really matters.

Maybe it was. I didn't really pay attention to the guy's number, the player looked like Singleton though.

I just checked the game stats at NFL.com and it credited Jason Hatcher with the Forced Fumble but if you watch the replay you can clearly see it was Carpenter that knocked the ball out.

I agree on all counts.

I think Romo pass you refer to was his most impressive of the preseason.

copper is going to make this team. Parcells has said he knows what he is and to me that means he is on this team. He is great on special teams and has some experience in real games.

.

Agreed - Sometimes I wonder if people are even watching these games to say some of the things they are saying. Carpenter looks really good thus far. Go figure.

Shouldn't the tight end have chipped the blitzter on the Tyson Thompson play?

Tyson zeroed in on the outside guy and then the inside blitzter flashed in perhaps a 1/2 a step behind. Thomspon tried to adjust to pick up the guy with the shortest route to the QB and just could not get there. Even if he does, the outside guy still creams Romo. There was not much that Thompson or any back could have done.

Good stuff Rack. Agree completely on Carpenter.

I think that we saw Rector returning punts means Green is on his way to the PS.

I dont think Green will be cut. Parcells must have saw something in the guy to draft him. Green will have 3 years to prove himself. I see Cooper on his way out along with Fowler (he was horrible).

Parcells saw something in Rogers and Peterman to draft them too.

Green is on the bubble. I think PS is not out of the question.

Who returns punts if Green is on the PS? Rector?

Not sure I'd really want to see Crayton do it again given his injury history and with TO ailing.

I sent you a PM Everlastingxxx... :star:

Carpenter tipped that ball that was almost intercepted.

Anybody notice that Thompson runs similarly to Bob Hayes? Both use/used their hips in a pronounced way.....

Maybe the Cowboys should just line him out wide and let him run post patterns a couple of times every game. Wouldn't have to worry about picking up the blitz ...

I think it was Bates on the radio last night who mentioned that both of these players had injuries that could have alterated their development resulting in them not meeting the expectations of the coaches and the fans. (I'm referring to Rogers and Peterman).

However, that is not an excuse, it is just one of those inconveient facts.
