This is my first post and may be my last concerning the upcoming draft. I have noticed that several posters have posted some mocks that really puzzles me. I have started to see a trend on some mocks that does not address the o-line , which I consider the biggest need and has been a big need for the last 3 years. I have read suggestions that the line should be fixed using mid to late round draft picks along with free agency. This line of thinking is the reason that the Cowboy`s line has continued to be awfull . Over the past few months I have read post after post that was all for upgrading the line. As draft time approaches , I am amazed that fans would want to go another direction other than the line. Sure , I would like to see Mankins in Dallas , but not at the cost it would take to get him there. This years draft class in not the strongest in the o-line area , but several good prospects will be within reach. If a young line is drafted , it will take a year or two for them to gel as a unit . If the problem had been addressed in previous drafts , The Cowboys would not need such a major overhaul. I`m all for trading down a few spots and picking up Carimi OR Sherrod . In the second pick up Cannon or Ijalana (both could play guard or tackle if needed ). Draft Moffitt in the third (has played guard and center). I know that several other areas need help but the line has been a problem for far too long. If for some reason Fairley falls to the 9th pick , he would be too good to pass up. I think games are won in the trenches . This is just my 2 cents and for all the RB,CB,LB,WR AND S lovers out there , you are welcome to rip this post apart.

that there says it all

your right

Some people just want to be different, and not post the same mocks as most of the others. Some preface their mocks by proposing that we address the OL in FA, then target other areas in the draft. Or they feel like the replacements are already on the roster. Or they have pet cats at other positions.

Fairley is the only player that make me alter my feelings toward rebulding the ol starting with the first pick . I wish that I would have kept count of the post that complained about the o-line this season. Fans agree that it is a major problem , but a few thinks that high draft picks should be used in other areas. Free agency is too expensive and mid to low round picks is the problem now. OL is not the sexy or wow pick but at some point, it has to be done or next year we will have the same problems.

You make a very valid argument. But on the same note you could look at the defense which was ranked near the last in the league.

3 DE's are FA's (Spears/Bowen/Hatcher)
1 safety is a FA and the other sucked (Sensy/Ball)
1 ILB is something like 35 (Brooking)
1 CB is 33 (Newman)

So between FA and the draft you have to figure out which moves help the most.

This off-season will be interesting.
