Why do we run the clock down all the way to zero? or close too it?

I posted it a couple times in the thread a couple weeks back but I don't think i got an answer?

They prefer to give Romo as much time as possible to see what the defense is doing and to audible to the right play.

Romo loves to see if he can figure out what the defense is doing. Doesn't he usually get 2 plays from the sideline and he can choose which one he thinks would work the best? The downside of that is the defense gets a great jump off the line. Tony does need to get the play into the huddle faster and get up to the line.

It's also done to run time off the clock.

... and controlling the clock, which should pay off in higher dividends when we face off against an explosive offense like New Orleans later down the road. The less time a great offense has their hands on the ball, the better. On a side note, I do not place the Eagles in the same boat as the Saints offensively. They do have a big play offense, but one which only capitalizes on limited opportunities each game. New Orleans can work the field on any given down for four quarters.

I think last year it was always down to 1 second, sometimes they snapped it right before it hit 0. This happened way too many times. I don't think that going to 1 second was a plan thing to take time off the clock everytime. I think it was more of a communication problem.

This year they seem to be snapping it more around 3 to 6 seconds.

Yep, it's all about adjustments. If you watch the line of scrimmage with a keen eye (which is what you should do btw to really enjoy the game) and not just follow the ball, you'd notice that the defense shows their hand each time a QB raises his leg up and fakes the snap (in shotgun).

A 7 man front will turn to an 8, allowing the QB to make a decision to not run into a less favorable box and throw it instead or to call a run in a direction away from where the safety is coming from.

Blitzers will take steps forward also, allowing the linemen and backs helping out in blocking to know who to block. A CB will get off his man if he's blitzing, allowing the WR to call him out. The QB will also notice the safety drifting towards the WR being covered by the blitzing CB, allowing the QB to take notice and set up for bigger plays.

I heard the skins don't have a lot of audibles in their offense and it's easy to see why they struggle. Any defense can break down your protection schemes if your offense isn't able to aptly adjust on the go.

Thats all i needed to know. Thanks.

They scare the hell out of me when they do that stuff.

When Romo is going through his cadence, he is making the defense tip their hand. This helps the OL and RB in their blitz pickups.
