I'm thinking that when D.Reeves gets here he would want Shanahan to coach the boys and move wade to dc what do you guys think?

And maybe that explains why we don't have a dc so far. But who knows just a thought that I would love to see become True...

Do Reeves and Shanahan get along?

I mean Shanahan replaced Reeves in Denver ...... then beat him in the Superbowl.

Have never heard of their personal relationship.

Anyone know?

I actually think they despise each other...

Doubt it. Reeves is generally a good guy and I don't think Shanny is that type of person either. Of course, there is no way Wade accepts a downgrade to DC with those two coming in. Anyhow, Shanny isn't coming here. I think Reeves is a good guy to have here though. While he lacks a Superbowl ring as a coach, he has coached in four Supberbowls. A good coach can get to a Superbowl with one team, but great coaches can do it with more than one team. Reeves has done it with the Broncos and with the Falcons.

Reeves wanting to bring in Shanahan to coach and moving Wade to DC wouldn't be anything revolutionary. I'd say at least 90% of Cowboys fans would support that decision :laugh2:

Personally, I'm sick of bringing in old coaches.

I want a young coach with fire. It is what gets the most out of players in today's NFL. Look around the league and see the results.

I'm young and I have a lot of fire... but I doubt I'd be a good coach.

That's being extreme, I know... but my point is that the person needs to be a good football coach first and foremost. You can't just go grab any young, currently hot coordinator and be assured of success any more than you can be with a re-tread like Dungy, Holmgren, Shanny, etc.

I don't really disagree with you because I too would like a younger, tougher guy as the Dallas HC. But there's a lot of risk when giving a guy his first head coaching job... more risk than hiring a historically successful re-tread.

However, the possible reward is greater too.

If I were Jerry, I'd probably try to get a guy like Shanny, Cowher, or Holmgren and let them groom a young, firey coach to continue what they start in Dallas... and as the owner I would insist that what they start would be a tough, hardnosed, disciplined style of football that pays a lot of attention to the fundementals.

Wade Phillips will not volunteer to be demoted. That's what I [strike]think[/strike] know.

Part of the reason for the young inheriting the earth is that they have old defensive coordinators who know what they are doing. Both Harbaugh and Tomlin took over stable franchises with exceptional front offices and stingy defenses.

Going with some "young coach with fire" will just as likely net you a David Shula or Lane Kiffin if the organization backing them up isn't sound.
