Just asking

He had a bad game because he failed on some specific plays that he has to learn to counter. That doesn't mean he didn't play well on a lot of his snaps. The clock is on that outside swim move that got him twice. You get this when you have a rookie starting against a talented vet.

Dak didn't help him on the one sack, for the record.

You guys have to realize that there's a middle ground between taking your lumps and losing your job after your first start.
At least you are not claiming he had a good game any longer......
This is the NFL. If you are not good enough to start then you should be on the bench. Williams hasnt played well in Preseason either. Then the excuse was because Buckner is good and William is a rookie..
It doesnt matter if he is a rookie or a 10 year vet...If you keep giving up sacks up the middle then you should not be on the field. The other 21 starters shouldnt suffer because you are a rookie.

He has not had a game yet where he has looked Starter caliber. Get him off the field.
The truth is he would be losing a job he never earned anyway. He was forced into the lineup before he is ready.

We just signed a guard this morning..a vet starter formerly of the Texans.A 41 game starter in fact. I'm not gonna try to spell his name lol. Let me ask you all, do you think this is an indictment of Connor Williams? He didn't look good last week. Looks like this guy will be the swing guard Sunday as they just released Kadeem Edwards. Should we be concerned if we are already playing musical chairs on the oline?
I think he's an attempt up grade our depth and possibly help if the rookie wont truly be ready until next year.

He gave up 3 sacks.
What needed to happen for him to have a bad day if 3 sacks is a good game. Jesus Christ.
I said OVER-ALL.....there were possessions where he in fact played well.
That crap fest on sunday aint on the OLine.

Seattle wanted Williams for Earl Thomas straight up back in April. Is it worth a guard sho’ll Develop in 3 years vs sacrificing the safety position in the meantime?

Partly. When Your QB is sacked 6 times he starts to feel pressure that may not be there.

I mispoke. By definition, a game where you give up multiple sacks is not good. Let's be clear.

I was trying to distinguish between a guy who can't play and a guy who needs to learn to play. There was a fair amount of good in that bad game, which was my point.

I'd say your acid test here isn't at all realistic. Rookies need playing time to develop. When that happens, you take lumps.

I'd disagree with your assessment that he hasn't looked starting caliber, overall. I think team and player expectations are right where they should be with Williams and it's the fans who are getting way ahead of themselves.

I certainly think there's concern. I think there was even before Sunday's game confirming their fears.

Look at the moves they made.

They brought in Ehinger. You know where he started? Left guard.

He quickly got hurt so what do they do? They sign Sua Filo. Know where he started? Yep, left guard.

I don't know that they're going to pull the plug already but I think they're hedging their best just in case.

And that's a wise move.

Another week where he struggles as badly and I'd start looking at options, even if that includes flipping Williams and Collins.

He is a carbon copy of Connor Williams.

would Earl help with some of the OL whoas this past weekend. It does not take 3 years for OL to develop. Many take lumps in the 1st year due to the speed and strength of NFL players over even top rated college players. Ol usually settle into their own by the end of year 1 if starter and make a significant jump in their 2nd year after a year in an NFL strength and conditioning program.
