I just finished the trek back from Seattle and figured some of you might like thoughts from someone who was there lived. I was high in the upper deck but right at the 40 behind Parcells et al, so I had a great view of the entire field.
First, obviously a bad loss but from the minute Cortez missed the chip shot FG early in the fourth, I knew some how, some way, we would lose. In fact, I told my wife that right at the time. I know crap like that happens but why is it our kickers miss and opposing kickers hit 55 and 50 yarders against us?
In the restaurant on the way home, my wife (who freely admits she knows very little about the game) said I knew what their plays would be near the goal line. She said, I knew it would be two runs up the middle and then try to pass. She even asked at the game, why run up the middle, you won't get anywhere. As she said, if she could tell from the stands what the call would be, how could Holmgren not know?
Parcells returned to the conservative approach today, the try not to lose instead of try to win mode. I agreed with the second FG attempt even though we were less than a yard from a first and goal because we had to go ahead by 7 at that time.
Funny though, after being conservative most of the game, he went agressive in the last forty seconds and it cost us the game on the INT.
I kept thinking throughout the game that we had our WRs single coverage on their corners, it was very obvious from my seats but we either couldn't get the ball to them or Bledsoe was sacked.
We stuffed the run very well and overall it was a great defensive effort, face it, if you hold the top offence to one TD, you have done your job. This loss is all on the offence. We left 11 points on the board in the 4th in the red zone. That was the game.
I don't understand why they called back the illegal contact before the botched FG. Did they explain on the Fox broadcast? I taped the game but the end result probably means I won't watch
Not sure why we didn't go for more slants today, whenever we tried, they were usually successful.
Bledsoe seemed off, maybe the wet ball, maybe due for a weaker game, not sure. Still, he missed some easy throws like the one to Key in the second I think it was.
Penalties hurt us big time, such as at the end of the second quarter when we had a pass to the 38 waived off for holding. I think Drew threw the INT on the next pass.
We were clearly the better team today but by allowing the Seahawks to hang around, we opened the door.
After the game, a few of the Seahawk players ran around with Hamlin's jersey. I guess it was a huge emotional release for them to win, especially the way they did.
Glad to see my boy Key get a TD and my boy Roy get an INT. Too bad they were for naught.
There was a good fight in the stands a couple of sections over. Some good punches.
There must have been 15-20000 Cowboy fans there. In my section, it was at least 60-40 for us. There was even a loud "Let's Go Cowboys" chant in the fourth.
Even though it was a tough loss, seeing them live is always a pleasure. I blame my wife, she is 0-2 when she goes with me
