Love the form factor.

I just want a tablet that has more muscle, and a computer OS. It's getting there....

It came down between the Xoom and the ipad2. Spent about an hour in Best Buy going back and forth between the two. Now the ipad3 will probably come out next week, LoL...

Yeah, I got mine a few months ago and really like it.

But in all honesty, if I had to do it again, I would have gone with another brand such as ASUS.

I bought the Xoom back when it launched in February but I never liked the way the screen looked. Too dim and dark with no pop at all in the colors. I ended up returning it and then tried the Galaxy Tab 10.1. Screen on it was GREAT, except if you pressed too hard the glass would contact the digitizer making this weird swirl. I ended up returning it as well... mainly due to the lack of HoneyComb/Tablet apps.

I finally put my Apple hate aside(I love Android) and got the iPad 2 and I've been thrilled with it. Screen looks great, no lag and with iOS5(multitasking gestures and Android-like notifications) it has been fantastic. As many apps as a person could ever want.

There is even an app for turning my wifi only iPad 2 into a phone. It's called Talkatone. If used with Google Voice you can make and receive free phone calls. I don't actually make calls but I do answer them on my iPad if I have it in my hand and my phone is somewhere else(they both ring at the same time)

Best of all, I have an HTC ThunderBolt and it's rooted so I get free wifi hotspot and when I'm not at home I can connect my iPad to it and get free unlimited 4G LTE data on my iPad :D

Got the talkaphone app, cool. Also several other apps and games. Angry Birds and Uber Racer. Nifty!

DirecTV app is good, too. and free. Lets you set programs to record to your DVR, even if you are away from home. It has come in handy many times.

Yeah I use COX Cable and they have an app too. I agree it comes in handy. I used it Saturday night when I forgot to set the DVR to record Cops. :D

My advice-

You should have waited. :) The ASUS Transformer 2 is set to launch on November 9th w/ Android 4.0.

This is the tablet I have been waiting on. :)

Some highlights of this iPad2 destroyer.

Build of the Asus Transformer 2

The Asus Transformer is built uniquely. There is nothing quite like it on the tablet market. The tablet itself has the dimensions of 7x10x.5 which is quite remarkable for a tablet its size. What makes it truly unique though, is its keyboard dock. This isn’t just any keyboard dock, this dock stores extra battery life, storage capacity, and a great keyboard for typing essays and papers. The build of the Asus Transformer is king of any tablet on the current market, and we do not expect the Asus Transformer 2 to be any different.

Display of the Asus Transformer 2

The display of the Transformer 2 is going to 10.1 inches. Unfortunately, Asus has not provided us with any details regarding the pixel density of this tablet. However, we cannot see the density being any worse than the Asus Transformer, which has a pixel density of 1200×800.

Hardware on the Asus Transformer 2

The Asus Transformer 2 is going to be the first tablet to have a NVIDIA Kal-El CPU. This is also known as the Tegra 3 processor. This is revolutionary computing power for a tablet. This processor will provide blazing speeds for the Asus Transformer 2. It is rumored that Asus has ordered nearly 4 million of these processors to put in their next line of tablets. If you want to read more regarding the Kal-El CPU please click here.

Tegra 3 (Kal-El) series
  • Processor: quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore, up to 1.5 GHz
  • 12-Core Nvidia GPU with support for 3D stereo
  • Ultra low power GPU mode
  • 40 nm process by TSMC
  • Video output up to 2560×1600
  • NEON vector instruction set
  • 1080p MPEG-4 AVC/h.264 High Profile video decode
  • The Kal-El chip (CPU and GPU) is to be about 5 times faster than Tegra 2[18]
Software on the Asus Transformer 2

The Transformer 2 is going to be setting industry standards in this category as well. This tablet is going to be the first run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. The release of the Transformer 2 is also dependent on the release of Android Ice Cream. This OS is rumored to be released in Q4 of 2011, which makes sense as that is when the Transformer 2 is suppose to be released as well.

Gotta love the hot pluggable keyboad add in which also extends the battery another 5-6 hours.

Looks to be a laptop that has a detachable screen to become a tablet. Official announcement is Nov. 9th. (two days away)

This is probably exactly what I've been waiting for. Quad Core huh? It better not be short on memory and or storage.

This could easily be the next evolution if done correctly.

I'm the biggest Android fanboy you'll ever meet. I have the Nexus One and HTC ThunderBolt and am getting the Galaxy Nexus), BUT I would never buy another Android tablet right now.

The app selection SUCKS. Not only that, I would never buy an Asus anything....the Transformer feels cheap as hell and the Transformer 2 will be no different.

Apple makes great hardware with "ok" software. iOS is boring except I do love the multitasking gestures.

The only thing I miss about Android tablets are customization but that is not enough to make up for the lack of Honeycomb(soon to be ICS) tablet specific apps.

At the end of the day there is no need to wait for anything. These devices are cheap by consumer electronic standards and if something comes out better than the iPad 2, I'll buy it.

I'm surprised the iPad isn't dead yet with all the iPad killers that have come out.

Don't they say that with every android tablet?

You'll be happy with the iPad 2, I use mine every day. Dunno why anyone would consider the Transformer 2 and iPad killer, did the 1st Transformer do that well?

Hardware isn't everything...

Xoom had better hardware than the iPad 1 etc.
