Just bought a 2012 Tacoma with TRD package.

Didn't mean to buy it. Was just going to look. LOL.

Offered a deal I couldn't refuse.

Anyone have a Tacoma, modded, or otherwise?

I'm driving a 2003 TRD 4 wheel drive. It's the best truck I've ever owned. I had a Chevy Z71 4X4 before that and wasn't sure how well I'd like the smaller box, cab, and engine. It's been great. I'm going to try to drive it 5 more years until I can give it to my son when he turns 16. I'll probably go get the exact same truck again. My dad sold his Tundra last year and moved to the Tacoma, and he's loved his too. I do a ton of hunting, fishing, backpacking, kayaking, camping, etc...but rarely ever pull a trailer or haul heavy loads of any type. I'm a bit of a minimalist, so this truck has fit me real well.

Sweet man!

I've always wanted to own a truck. More specifically a Tacoma. Never got around to doing it until now.

I'm going to be picking up a kayak and getting into Cart Racing. So, the truck will come in handy.

Want to get my family into camping etc. The wife isn't too thrilled of the idea, but I think I'll eventually get her to come around if I can make the outing as pleasant as possible. I may even thinking of picking up a camper to pull.

I pick it up tonight.

I'm got a 2012 TRD Sport model, V6 long bed, double cab, Graphite Gray. I'm seriously thinking about throwing in the TRD supercharger. LOL. I want to explore/research what - if any - turbo kits exist for these trucks first before I decide.

I have owned 9 Toyota's since 1976.

3 Celica's (drove one off the show room floor, first new car I ever owned)
5 Camry's (own one now)
1 Solora (beautiful car)

Loved'em all !

Toyota really knows how to sell cars. If you qualify for 0 or 1 percent loan the payments can be much lower than a used car. Then when you are done paying in 5 years you either get 5 more trouble free years of driving with no payments, or a lot of equity to trade in.

Mine's the same color and same truck, except I do have the short bed. It was a big concern when I first got it but I've managed. I did a two day float tip on the Pecos River a few weeks back. I was able to fit my wife, son, Lab, 3 kayaks, fishing, and camping gear all in the truck. It's tight but you find a way. I couldn't tell you about the supercharger, I poke around everywhere I go.

I have 2. A 2004 2 door and a 2008 4 door.

They are the best vehicles I have ever owned by a huge margin.

EDIT...

My 2008 looks like this minus the custom grill, but that is the grill I want.

Never had a Tacoma, but have a 2006 Tundra which I love! It's the model just before they made the Tundra larger, and I'm glad I got it then. I think if I ever wanted to get another truck,I would go to the Tacoma over the larger Tundra. The Tacoma today is almost the size of the 2006 Tundra.
I've bought three Camry's, all off of Ebay, and have not had a problem with any of them. One I found for our nephew, who drove hell out of it before he sold it to get a truck for his work. Another Camry I found for my mother-in-law, who still drives it and has no desire to get rid of it.
The last Camry I bought on Ebay was for my wife. It's a 2008, dark grey with inboard navigation and sound system. It alone would have cost over a grand new. I looked for a long time for just this vehicle, and saw it on Ebay, being sold by Mercedes of Buckhead. I did all the 'due diligence' on it,and while looking at the pics, noticed what I perceived to be damage to it. I called the young lady at Mercedes and told her that it was just what I wanted, but that I could understand why they weren't asking very much for it, with 14,000 miles on it, because of the damage in picture #15! There was a silence on the other end of the phone, and then she said,"what damage"?
She looked at the pic and told me that it wasn't damage but the reflection off of the glass windows that gave it that look. After she told me that, I could see it in the picture. She said it was being discounted like it was because it wasn't A MERCEDES!!! Some young military officer had come back from overseas, wanted a Mercedes, and traded in this Camry. She said that her clients turned their noses up at it. I told her I would be there in an hour, took a test drive, my wife loved it, and when she asked how I wanted to finance it, I wrote her a check! It's a great car. I would buy another.

3 Camry's so far.

1996 & 2 2002's. My kids drive them. Absolutely would buy more.

I currently drive a 1999 Tacoma PreRunner and it has 269,000 miles+ and runs great!

In 1992 I bought a brand new Toyota pickup and drove it until it had 270,000+ miles.

In 2001 I bought a 4Runner and drove it for 5 years and then had to trade it for something bigger (Chevy Tahoe).

Toyota's are by far the best vehicle I've ever owned!

That he has a good mechanic.

Just saw this thread because with my next duty assignment, I'm thinking that a truck or some sort of SUV is going to be useful, especially 4x4.

I had considered the Tacoma and pretty much nothing else. There aren't really any trucks out there for the value that catch my eye except the Honda Ridgeline, but I could get a Tacoma with all my needs for less than the Honda.

The Honda's in-bed "trunk" does come in handy for tailgating, though. Me and Dad have definitely put ice in there for beer on more than one occasion (it has a drainage outlet for the melted water).

Get a Tacoma!

Picked her up last night.

Digging it. Already looking to put a mild lift kit and get some new wheels and rims.

Thinking of heading up to the mountains this weekend and do some kayaking with the family.

I looked real hard at the Taco when I traded last winter. Really wanted to downsize from a fullsize for fuel economy reasons.

It's a great rig for offroading and hauling the bikes/kayaks/canoe and camping but it just didn't have the payload and towing capacity of a full size. I just couldn't make it work so I ended up with another F150.

I'd still love to get an older Taco someday and trick it out for offroading.

I thought about the Tundra - briefly.

I couldn't justify the price and gas guzzling for a truck that would never tow anything.

I also came close to going with Ford. I've never bought an American vehicle. I really wanted to this time since Ford makes great trucks. But, the Tacoma won out in the end.
