Would it be ok if I viewed it about the same as guys like Billick and Martz and Fassel and Callahan roaming the sidelines in a SB this decade?

Or would I be obligated to somehow acknowledge he's a better HC than those guys?

Well, if you take a period of 6 games, you're typically going to have a couple games of lackluster performance. It's kinda silly to say that the offense was a weak spot on the team this year, though. But say whatever you want -- nobody's stopping you.

Oh, I agree. But I wouldn't be surprised to see the offense regress, at least statistically, next season. Either way, there's not going to be any way of knowing who is responsible because we likely won't know the division of labor among the HC and OC (much like this past season).

That's why we should ignore the defense to fix the offense? Because you're saying the offense had 2 bad games and 1 kinda bad game in the final month of the season?

Except the defense had more than 2 bad games (and more than 1 kinda bad game). So why are you only focusing on fixing the lesser of two problems here? Makes no sense. If that's your big argument for doing this to right the ship on offense, how bad does it have to get before you suggest we ought to look at getting well on defense?

Also, for what it's worth, here are our offensive numbers from December:

Week 13 - 23 points, 365 yards
Week 14 - 17 points, 347 yards
Week 15 - 38 points, 352 yards
Week 16 - 7 points, 201 yards
Week 17 - 31 points, 365 yards

There's really only 1 bad game there. And there's one lukewarm one. Then there's one nice one and two good ones. Even in the four that weren't total stinkers, we still got at least 350 yards each game (which, if a team did that every week of the year, they're a top 10 offense).

Our system was less of a problem than Romo's loose ball-handling. And I don't see you suggesting we tell him to hit the bricks along with Haley and Sparano. No, instead you want us to buy some magic beans from Norv Turner and Jason Garrett so Tony Romo won't fumble anymore.

And, what, pray that the defense perks up all on its own? Oh, or are we waiting on Jerry, the GM, to save the day on that side of the ball?

Obviously I am not going to root for Turner regardless. But if he was to take this team to playoff win, I would probably give him credit for taking over a talented Parcells built team and getting that win.

It would have to play out for me to make any real assessments.

Actually Norv doesnt hate the Commanders. If you refer to one of the other threads, where an article quotes Norv as saying he had some great years in Washington (or something to that effect).

He certainly didnt hate the Cowboys when he coached the Commanders. Maybe the dog ate his playsheet on those gamedays.

Beast supports the team, no matter what. If Jerry says Norv is the guy, I am on board with that.

After watching the Lions walk all over us in our own building when it has been like a freaking decade since they had won a road game, Norv cannot be any worse.
I would have shown Tuna the door after that game.

If Norv were to get hired and turn the team around, I'll be pleasantly surprised. I really don't see it happening though. Who the hell is gonna mold our defense? All that young talent on defense, who is gonna turn them into a dominant group? Norv Turner? No. I'll take Rex or Rivera. Let Garrett handle the Offense.

If Norv is hired, I will be dissappointed for a number of reasons. But one of the main reason, it shows that our ownder IS reverting back to his old ways. He is mortgaging the future on one player. He did it for Sanders, he did it for Gallaway and now he is doing it for Romo. The first two had direct impact on the team, with the Cap and Draft picks,, this one will have a direct impact on the development of the young players on Defense.

Now that BP has retired, JJ has a chance to bring in people to get this team to the next level. What has Novr ever done that shows he is capable of this? If these players tuned out a future HOF Coach, what in the world makes you think they would listen to someone like Norv, who shown to be a miserable failure as a HC?

No, this wil be a horrible hire for the Dallas Cowboys. But it doesn't mean the fans will jump ship. Or at least I won't.

When he's on board, I'll pull for him and hope for the best. If he succeeds I'll be happy and consider him a success. That obviously wouldn't change the fact that he hasn't been a successful OC or HC outside of Dallas.

Not much else to it other than that.
