But I think he's asking whether that wasn't a case of mistaken identity, as Big ***** really was an informant after all.

I think you could make a case that Tony wanted it to be Jimmy to alleviate the pain of it being his best friend. He decided it was Jimmy after speaking with him in the basement. I don't believe they ever showed Jimmy working with FBI as they did with ***** and others (god I almost let slip a couple of names!)

It's been a long time since I have seen it but I remember them showing him talking to one of the FBI agents. Also BP did turn out to be an informant IIRC.

The Sopranos was a great series. It had it's ups and downs.

The Wire on the other hand..............never watched it. Looks like I have something to look forward to though, from reading this here thread.

You certainly do. It really doesn't matter which one is better. If you appreciate the quality of a show like The Sopranos, I'm fairly certain you'll get into The Wire as well. The acting is top-notch as is the story-line.

If you watch it don't judge it by the first two or three episodes give it at least 4 or 5 episodes to get the feel for the story.

Check out the wikipedia link Mick provided to get a feel for the series. If you give it a fair chance I'm sure you will like it.

I just started Seaon 3 today.

I thought it was kind of lame that the way Tony found out Sal was a Government Informat was in a dream. Also, the way Richie Aprile died was very unexpected.

So far, Season 3 seems to be a bit boring, lots of dreams and wire tap attempts.

I don't think he 'found out' in his dream. I think he always knew at some level and finally came to terms with it, via his dream if you will. Season 3 does start off slowly, but there are some absolute gems in that season. Just wait for Pine Barrens.

Yeah, I have heard alot about Pine Barrens.

I am on the episode where Tony's mother died. I am also starting to wondering if Jackie Aprile's son is going to be a problem.

Oh, it must suck having to work for someone you know killed your twin brother.

The Ritchie scene is one of my favorites

Worth watching again to see the hand on the chair as he falls after being shot. I'd say that episode was one of the best in the series history.

Season 3 is starting to get pretty good.

The whole Meadow/Noah relationship is pretty interesting.

In real life, I wonder if there is really this much money in this type of business. Tony Soprano has this huge house, wife doesn't work, sending one kid to Columbia and was joking about sending Anthony Jr. to West Point or Harvard. Plus I am sure that Psychiatrist he is seeing isn't cheap either.

This Ralphie character is alot more violent prone then Ritchie.

Paulie Walnuts is by far one of the funniest characters I have ever seen. He definately rivals Clay Davis from The Wire as far as comedy. The part where he was telling the Catholic Priest that he thought he had immunity from Hell because of all the donations he was making to the church was hilarious.

Just watch through the end of Season 5 and it's fantastic. Season 6 was so bad and seemed so forced.

That's because it was. Chase wanted to end the series but HBO talked him in to a 6th season.

It definitely showed. Season 5 was one of my favorites..well heck, the whole series was awesome! It was even better for me because I grew up in Jersey and knew everything they were referring to.

Just got through watching the episode "Pine Barrens" and it was indeed the best episode thus far.

I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard in my life.

Now I am left to wonder if the mistake made in the Pine Barrens will cost the Soprano crew, specifically Paulie in the future.

I have to say, I'm very jealous of you. I wish I could watch The Sopranos again for the first time.

Is Chris Multisante actually related to Tony Soprano by blood?

Tony has two sisters, Janice has a child that doesn't live with her and the other sister's kids are not in the Mafia.

At this point, I can only assume that Chris is actually a blood relative of Carmella and related to Tony only by marriage.

Yes he's Carmella's nephew IIRC
