Just finished Spartacus

[CATCH17]

What an amazing series. If you guys haven't seen it than I highly recommend it.

It's got a lot of graphic content so don't watch it if stuff like that puts you off.

I didn't realise how emotionally invested I was in it until those last 2 or 3 episodes.

The original actor that played Spartacus died as well and it really adds to the emotion of the story. Especially if you search around youtube and you see some of the tributes the cast members did for him.

Andrew Whitley, the actor who died, has a documentary coming out sometime called Be Here Now and i'll be interested to see it when it releases. It's him documenting the last few weeks of his life.

I never knew the real story of Spartacus so all of it was a surprise to me.

Amazing show though.





Now which show should I watch next? Game Of Thrones or The Walking Dead?

I've seen neither and i'd like to get caught up on one first before I start the other.

Well...you probably are better off starting with the Walking Dead.

By the time you are done with that, the latest season of Game of Thrones will probably have finished.

If you have not watched it yet...You might want to check out Vikings from the History Channel. It turned out to be pretty good.

Only watched the first 1 and a half episodes of the bible.

Low budget, tried to put too many things in there, some things seemed changed for dramatic or cost purposes...bad acting. Was really let down by it.

Might be interesting.

However I am still miffed at how they did the ROME series on HBO when it was so rushed in the last season although I guess they at least got to try and tie up some things vs how they did Deadwood.

Caesar and Crassus did a good job in the final season of Spartacus.

I hope there is no spin off's and they just let it be. I still feel gut punched by the whole thing.

I saw ONLY the series finale and felt like I'd watched the entire series. Not bad, I'll have to watch the rest.

I couldn't watch after Whitfield died.. he just WAS Spartacus. He played that role as perfect as anyone has played a role in their life. The new guy just never had a chance to live up to it. It wasn't the same.

I will say that even though I only watched one episode, I didn't find the guy playing Spartacus compelling as the title character.

The 2nd Spartacus gets a lot better in season 4 but there is a huge adjustment period between the 2 Spartacus's.

The 2nd Spartacus nailed it in season 4.

Honestly Season 3 was the worst season and not that great but it's still important to watch.


That show has no mercy for its characters though.

Man I freaking LOVED that show. Every episode was good.

I especially loved the ending, and the "bringer of rain" episodes. They made you really pull for the gladiators and REALLY loathe the enemies, while at the same time making some of the "bad guys" very likeable at times. Great writing and acting.

Andy was amazing as Spartacus, but by the 4th season(so the 2nd season of New spartacus) I moved on and grew to enjoy the new one. He was a much more reserved and calculated gladiator. Just character development where he became more logical and strategic instead of solely blood thirsty like he was when he first entered the arena with Andy playing. I thought both actors did a phenomenal job.
