good question Marcus, I was thinking of offensive drives only.
So defensive or ST plays dont count.
And if the offense gets the ball at their 49 yd line, and they get the ball completely across
the 50 , that counts.
And if they do that and take a sack the next play , or penalty on the play
after they have
crossed the 50, then they go back across, then that doesnt count.
So I will say that only one cross per possession will count.
And if they cross 50 on a play and
get a penalty on that play, then the cross
is taken away. If after that they cross again then that counts, as long as no
penalty on that play.
Now going further lol, if say dallas has the ball at the 49, and ewok
runs across the 50, but then fumbles it away, that will count, as the ball
did cross the 50.
If we get a turnover in Pittsburgh territory, does that count?.....no
Or does this only mean on drives that start in Dallas territory?.... yes
the drive can start anywhere in dallas territory,on their side of the 50.
Now another freak thing would be if they got the ball on the 50 yd line itself,
if that happens if the ball is touching the 50 on 1st down, and they move it off
the 50 into pitt territory, and no penalty, then that would count as a cross.
If the ball is just one inch over the 50 at the start of drive, then that would not
count as a cross.
And I will add, you guys need to help keep track of this with me, as there will be no stat on it lol.
So some of you take notes on just how many times they do cross the 50.
