Having attended Cowboys training camp in Oxnard in the past, I just wanted to share a few of my observations on Patriots training camp...

They practice on two fields next to their stadium. The facilities are nicely groomed and top notch... The fans sit mainly in a large bleacher section and on a large grassy area behind one goal post on the closest of two fields... Of the two practice fields, the offense worked on the closest field, so my view was mostly of their offensive players...

The general atmosphere was workman-like and subdued... There were the occasional cheers for a deep pass catch or when the action got a little close to the bleachers... There was no fence line where the fans crowd up trying to watch up close like at Oxnard... didn't care for the atmosphere in general... much more security presence than in Oxnard... in general camp for me at Oxnard was looser, rowdier and more fan friendly...

As for the action on the field I wasn't familiar with a lot of the players except for a few... Tom Brady, Martellus Bennett and Gronkowski stood out in stature... Marty B. dropped two passes in the two of his catching attempts I observed... There was something in his posture that tells you he's not a practice player... he just kind of lumbered through his drills...

Their primary back-up QB Garrapolo did not stand out in any particular way... physically on the smaller side for an NFL QB... He threw at least one ugly interception and none of his completed passes stood out in any particular way.. It was mainly dink and dunk throwing drills from him and the other QBs on a hot 93 degree day... If Belicheck makes this guy a winner I'll be really impressed...

Overall as a Cowboys fan, Patriots training camp was an underwhelming experience... As much as we like to bash Jerry for his work as GM, his work as owner is outstanding in that he tries to make the fan experience as fun and exciting as possible... and for that he should be much more appreciated...

Thx for the report, no knock on you but I'd gladly trade the fan practice experience for the game day experience the Patriot fans enjoy

I'd rather close practice to all fans and media if that would help them concentrate more. But then again, I hate it when peeps are on their phones and socializing at the gym rather than putting work in
