The Dallas Cowboys players are set to get back to work toward the end of July if the lockout isn’t resolved by then.

Of course, Tuesday’s owners meeting at the O’Hare Westin in Rosemont, Ill., was yet another reason for optimism on the labor front. The belief – or hope – is that a deal between owners and players could be struck in the next two to three weeks. That would allow training camps to start on time – or close to on time.

But if there is a breakdown along the way, the Cowboys are set to get back to work, according to Rainer Sabin of the Dallas Morning News. Quarterback Tony Romo said about 45 players attended player-run workouts in May...

...Last month, quarterback Tony Romo, who organized the player-run workouts, said that approximately 45 players had participated in the sessions conducted at an undisclosed location in the Dallas area.

The large turnout, in part, could be attributed to the fact that many of the team's players reside in the Metroplex during the offseason.

While Romo was the point man, he delegated certain responsibilities to the team's other established veterans, including offensive tackle Marc Colombo, tight end Jason Witten, and linebackers Bradie James, Keith Brooking and DeMarcus Ware.

Even though none of the team's eight drafted rookies took part, the consensus among the Cowboys' players is that the practices unified a team that hopes to cue a turnaround after finishing with a 6-10 record last season...
