I agree with Jimmy actually.

A better forum with less name-calling was one of the reasons I came here. I used to go to the Ranch.

If this forum turns to what that one has become, I'll have to find yet another place to converse.
Really ? I was called a ball-licker for agreeing with Adam on a post. That same poster then asked to meet another poster at the Washington game, I'm guessing to flex his muscles for him. And it was the same anti-Roy poster. It happens on both sides. People take their Roy stance way too serioulsy. I don't even post in them anymore, it's not worth it, but it has increased my ignore list by quite a bit.

I don't think it would be even close to the intensity if it was any other player. In fact I think most players it would be a blurb and move on.

How many times has it been posted that the team excused him? Totally ignored.

Yeah, but what would the team's other option be?

The practices aren't 'mandatory' so there's nothing a team could do even if they were displeased.

It is for the team though.

Rant on.

Ugh yea. I fail to see where calmly and respectfully voicing my opinion on a public forum is "ranting"? But since it contradicts yours, I'll assume it suffices for you.

LOL

Yeah, I was offenseive with the words rant on. I was talking about the entire thread DC. If you want to participate in the voicing go ahead. But when the team excuses a player and the fans make a big deal out of it, yeah it looks like a rant. But then again, maybe I see the word rant as a less threatening word than you do. I admit that I go off on rants. It feels good and relieves pent up stress.[/rant off]

Last time I checked there was such a thing as a fine. They can fine a player for missing OTAs, weight lifting/conditioning, or anythign else that they tell the player they expect him to be doing. Not happening in this case though.[/rant off] < For DC

Hey

i know a girl who can really take care of that for you, sometimes the cost is free, you know depends on the month, how much the rent is and what not. But she can hook you up

:D :p ;)

Nah, not interested in meeting Sweaty Letty.

Thanks though.

Hostile: Thank you. I was feeling very lonely ranting all by my lonesome.

LOL. I did my ranting yesterday basically echoing your sentiments but they seemed to fall on "deaf ears" (so to speak)! Those who hate "HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED" already have the mentality set in stone so methinks there's no changing their minds!

Really?

A fine for voluntary OTA's?

I was unaware.

Hos, you seem to be letting this Roy business get to you more than you should.

Your words here seem out of character.

I think the return of Campo as the secondary coach is going to be a good thing for Roy
All that does is further strengthen my believe this is a do or die season for Roy.

No improvement with Campo = hit the bricks pal.

Where's he gone? To find his footballing brain and the courage and desire he's seemed to have lost.

It could be. I like Roy and hope to see the big hitter that we have seen before and I do think Campo can make a difference.

Roy has never been the greatest cover man however I do think he does a decent job but Roy reputation has been that of the big stick ready to lay the wood, that is something I have not seen from Roy over the last couple of season.

I'd add that what would be gained by the club actually 'doing' something about it anyway?...Risk alienating him further by reprimanding him or making it sound like the club was indeed unhappy with the timing of his absence?

Seems like a convenient way to excuse Roy's recent history, with more excuses

right, about excuses in a way, i admit i am like doomsday and hostile,

like how can campo work with roy when he is on vacation and he misses 2 OTAs.

i sure dont see the leader, that i thought roy was,

thats what is upsetting, gosh this guy roy has been here now since 2002, thats 5 years, he should know defenses inside out, he should be ready to whump up on teams, recognize plays

but every year, its another excuse, pretty soon those excuses are going to run dry

i do think like a few guys said, this is a make it or break it year for roy, point blank;

its kinda like the old theory, that jerry jones has done all he can do now, he has signed free agent players like T O, leonard davis, hamlin, got parcells to build the team, head them in the direction,

build through the draft, resigned players like flozell, newman & barber

now its put up or shut up time for the players, namely Roy Williams

In the past few years, the NFLPA has encouraged players to report teams for offseason excesses. The Browns, for instance, have been receiving warnings in each of the last three years, citing potential breaches of the OTA guidelines, but they have not been sanctioned. A first violation, under league rules, calls for a team to forfeit a full week of its program. A franchise would forfeit a fourth-round draft choice if found to have committed of a second infraction.

Under the guidelines, teams can conduct only one mandatory full-squad mini-camp in the offseason, and convene for just 14 days of OTA practices. Teams are allowed to be on the field for only 90 minutes. Players are permitted to spend only four hours per day at their teams' training facilities in the offseason and a team can only make two hours of that time mandatory.
