Now don't get me wrong,I'm the guy the glass is always half full. The thing is our beloved Cowboys are no more than pretenders at this point. I know the Eagles game was hyped and the T.O. thing did not help the cause but this team is not close enough to get crazy about just yet. Can you imagian if this Sunday was the NFC championship game at the Bears home field? WOW!

You’re not kidding. Win or lose they would have achieved my expectation for this season. I know many will say SB or nothing? Well when your franchise has been struggling for a long time NFC Championship game I would consider a very good season no matter the final results.

Entering the NFC title game as a pretender results in a slaughter... never be happy with "I am just happy to be here"

I did not say you had to be happy but myself considering where this team has been I would say a trip to the NFC Championship game win or lose would mark a big step for this team.

You don't understand the point...

If the Cowboys are playing in the NFC champ game...they will not be a pretender...

Get it?

But according to JJT, if you don't WIN the NFC championship game, you're not even a contender.

JJT is mental.

The dude seems to have his head screwed on right, but sometimes the info he gives is just completely wrong.

Ex. He said it's harder to run out of the 2 TE offense cuz there's less threat of a pass and teams will bring a safety into the box to help vs the run.

What?

The 2 TE offense is MORE of a passing threat then an offense with a FB. Teams may still bring a safety down, but it won't be for that reason.

Many many more examples.

At least he doesn't lose his head and create stories/controversy. For the most part he just reports what he believes.

I don't think you'd ever hear JJT say something controversial like "Mt. TO is about to explode."

Well, he does have a point, if he's talking about contending that year for the Superbowl...because you have to win the game to advance...

However, just getting there to the NFC champ game is pretty damn good! And, with this team, if they make it that far...I would bet that whoever they play, the Cowboys, with this team, would give whoever a real good game...and that to me...is a contender....

i think we all know we spotted the Eagles 10 points, and should have gone into overtime with them. We have a WR who isn't yet on the same page as Bledsoe, and a FS who isn't quite ready to step into a full-time starter's role. We didn't blitz as much as we should have, and when we did it was a poorly designed blitz. We didn't scheme for their blitzing as well as we should have, either. Far too few rollouts, slants, screen plays, etc. It was a poorly prepared team going up against a top QB who was playing lights-out, quite frankly. McNabb, however you feel about the Eagles, is a top 5 QB in the NFL and he played like it.
Bottom line is - I expect to win the rematch in Dallas, and I expect to make the playoffs and yes move on to the next round. If we don't make the playoffs, I think there's a good chance Parcells will retire. If we do, I think he'll stay on to try to get one last hurrah. But after only 4 games, we're still healthy, we're 1-1 in our division, and we should continue to improve as the season goes on. I'm cautiously optimistic...

That's a good post...and like I have said about the game with the eagles...the Cowboys basically walked on the field, went up to fat Andy and said...."Here...here is 10 points for you, because you WILL need it..."

And guess what, they did need it!

However, the Cowboys lost the game...so let the eagles walk around with their little chests poking way out this week...because they know...they saw the game...it's all good!

The "You have to win the Super Bowl or you're a failure" menatlity is so annoying IMO. There are 3 teams with 5 super bowl wins. So according to this mentality the best teams in the history of the league fail 88% of the time.

I understand that you could have always done better if you didn't win the big one, but it's definitely not a failure in my mind if you don't win it. I mean if the Houston Texans made it to the super bowl this year and didn't win it, would it be a failure? Just my $.02.

Didn't the Eagles give back 7, without Bledsoe, Glenn, or T.O. stepping on the field? Or do only the Cowboys make the plays & mistakes.

Uhhh well considering we didn't score there, I don't think they gave us 7. But if you want to count other turnovers that didn't lead to scores, I have a feeling Dallas would be at a disadvantage there too.

Did you watch the game, or what's going on here?

Are you talking about the Westbrook fumble on the first drive? If you're not I don't know what you're talking about.

If you're talking about the Ware fumble return, we also gave them 7 on the Lito interception return. Those even out. We still spotted them 10.

So let's lay down the 'giving the game' arithmetic:

Eagles 38 - Cowboys 24

-Cowboys give 10
-Eagles give 7
-Cowboys give 7

Eagles 21 - Cowboys 17
