With two #1 picks this year what do you think the odds of Jerry Jones pulling the trigger on a Brian Brohm or Andre Woodson if one of the two should fall to our 22nd pick like Brady Quinn did last year?

Do you think Jerry would pass up the opportunity twice esp considering he has two number one's to play with this year unlike last year.

It would make a interesting scenario either way and it's not out of the realm of possibility.

I'm not saying we need to pick a QB or should but just pondering the options.

Not to bump my own post but I noticed the "other" site has a story about the Cowboys addressing the back-up QB position and a picture of Cleo Lemon next to it.

Hmm...drafting a QB high when his entire rookie contract will expire as a backup? No thanks.

The only reason it entered my head was because I noticed Romo will be 28 in April. You never know. Like I said, I was not suggesting it, just wondering what people thought Jerry might do if faced with the situation again.

Cleo Lemon? Yuck. Brad Johnson is better than Cleo freaking Lemon.

Who cares if Romo is gonna be 28. That means he has at least 7 more years. Besides, if he keeps spending the off-season with the girls he dates, he'll stay young forever.

No offense, but drafting a QB in the first round after giving your starter $67 million would be "****** dumb".

You do realize we gave Romo like 35 mill guaranteed. He is the QB of the team regardless of if he sucks it up every single game. We are talking like 5 yr minimuim before even realistically thinking about trading or releasing him if he starts sucking or if we find someone better.

So you are going to use a first round pick on a backup QB or you are going to have the most expensive backup in NFL history. Either move is "****** dumb".

I wouldn't mind picking a qb with our 3rd or 4rth pick and grooming him in house...

Paul Smith, Tulsa

I like this guy as a sleeper.

actually Romo is not good looking, big ears and nose, he just has talent so he can score the hot ones
Actually, Romo is a good looking guy...even with the big ears. Nose doesn't seem that big to me.

Anywho, like others have stated, I think it would be a bad idea to draft a QB high. Day 2 pick if Bartel doesn't show much in the offseason.

Johnson isn't going anywhere...

See Romo and Jessica have something else in common big dumbo ears :laugh2:

(That is a movie reference joke for those who are lost)

Why not, we have used our last two first rounders to be back ups/special team players. Isn't that what all good teams do, use first rounders to select special teamers. I do have hopes for Spencer, but Capenter?

And picking a QB that falls, is not that bad an idea, to push Romo is nothing else. You can keep him a year or two and exaggerate how good he looks in practice, then trade him away for a quality pick or two, like Atlanta did with Schaub.

Well Jerry always preaches taking the BAP and it's never stopped some of the more successful franchises in the NFL. Did Jimmy not basically do the same thing when he drafted Steve Walsh in the 1989' supplemental draft?

I think this would be more of a situation where we look for a player with excellent athleticism, but very little polish and draft him in the 3-5th rounds. We don't need a QB of the future, right now. We just need a QB who might possibly one day be good enough to back up Romo and maybe take his spot down the road, or be trade bait for another team.
