I know Cowboy fans love Roy Williams and his big hits, but who would you choose as your SS ?

Troy Polamalu or Roy Williams ?

The Polamalu kid is everywhere.

I love Roy but TP is much better in coverage. He's also faster and seems to get to the QB more when he blitzes. I hate to say it but I'd prefer TP.

Roy Williams. Polamalu sometimes allows his agression to take him out of plays. They are about even in coverage.

I don't think you could go wrong with either to be honest.

Roy just because of the hair if nothing else.

Roy means more to our defense than most think, IMO. He's a physical presence that other offenses are well aware of when they play us, I promise.

Roy...no doubt in my mind...Polamalu isnt as dominant vs the run and in the games I have seen Pitt play is no better in coverage than RW is (and for those who still insist RW stinks in coverage you need to look again)

I think the perception that TP is better is because of the scheme that he's in. RW will rack up some incredible numbers if he plays in Pitt.

Polamalu...55 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 int, 4 passes defensed, no forced fumbles

Roy- 53 tackles..2 1/2 scks, 2 picks, one td, 9 passed defensed, two forced fumbles

And all three of those sacks against Carr...not something to hang your hat on.

I have to agree on this one. Roy would have to be my pick. I live in PA and see nothing but Steelers and Eagles coverage. The Steelers have had more talent on D than Dallas in the last couple years, and that enables T.P. to basically do what ever he wants. Now that we have a loaded D, Roy can do the same, and his #'s reflect that. The only reason someone wouldn't pick Roy, IMO, is because all they hear is Roy being the scape goat anythime someone burns our secondary.

Nothing against you, but seriously, Most Dallas fans just seem to underestimate Dallas players constantly and overestimate other team players. Come on Troy Polamalu better than Roy?

Got to be kidding me. I doubt opposing team spends time game planing for Troy Polamalu. Roy sure is always accounted, if no one else, opposing team WRs. Just because you haven't seen the big hits doesn't mean, Roy has become soft or no longer willing to do that.

I bet the reason is that, Offenses are game planning so that Roy doesn't have that chance.

Lastly for the whining our fans do about Roy's coverage skills, don't ever see the times Brian Dawkins or any other Safety gives up TDs. Its just that Roy Williams is such a Known hitter and so much screwtiny on him, that every failure is magnified.

ROY...

BTW... B. Dawkins got beat yesterday for a touchdown by Shockey... and by Price when we played them... It happens to all of them..no safety is going to be a shutdown in coverage. I think RW is a better player than TP, no question.

Trust me friend, I would choose Roy too. I am a big "Roy fan."

I could never get past the hair of Polamalu for one, my wife says he looks like a chia pet.

Plus I just love Roy Williams, the player and the guy.

I just think that Polamalu is a good player and wondered what others thought.

I think Polamalu is a heck of a ball player who is constantly hustling and knows how to put a big time hit on offensive players. Like others around here I'm more than happy with Roy but I give credit to good players and Polamalu is a damn fine player. Also your wife is right he does look like a chia pet. LOL

I understand, like I said, it wasn't directed at you per se. I just get annoyed, not just on this board, but in general how much they undersestimate Roy Williams.

Sure, he is not a shut down guy as Pass Defender. But I have yet to see a FS/SS be one. Closest I saw was Darren Woodson in his prime. Even the overhyped Sean Taylor or Ed Reed give up TDs every year.

Remember, who the Drew Henson TD was against in that Baltimore game? It was Ed Reed. Can you imagine how much Roy Williams would have been rediculed if it was him, against a Rookie QB, who hasn't played in four years?

True, and he also free lances and takes more chances than he should. He relies on his counterpart (Hope) to cover his back. RW doesn't have that in Davis.
