Halle-freaking-lujah I've been a T-Mobile customer since 1999 (when they were Voice Stream) I wanted no part of that garbage pail kid AT&T.

To top it off:

However, AT&T has promised T-Mobile $3 billion in cash if the deal doesn't go through, plus spectrum rights and agreements that could be worth billions more.

That's a big win for T-Mobile customers!

Definitely is.

GF cell phone service from Alltel was like $40 a month before Verizon got a hold of them.

I told my wife when I heard about this that I bet the government steps in. Just can't see them allowing AT&T to buy up any more of the big companies.

This is not a "win" for consumers, because Deutsche Telekom really, really wants out of T-Mobile and have previously said that the parent has decided to not put any more money into T-Mobile. T-Mobile WILL be sold, whether to AT&T or someone else. DT was in talks with Sprint about selling T-Mo before the AT&T offer.

AT&T will be giving a total of 7billion to T-Mo should the deal fall through. You can bet they will do everything they can to get DOJ approval. The likely scenario is that the DOJ will win concessions from AT&T and then signoff on the merger.

I was hoping for a t-mobile to sprint deal.. It would create 3 big companies, all close too each other. T-mobile into AT&T leads to sprint dieing within a few years, and that leaves ATT and Verizon.

Screw that.

Can anyone whos worked in business explain why? That just seems mental too me.
