Morrison was a drug addict who overdosed and died. Perhaps the most selfish act you can commit.

Suicide is very selfish, .. but a drug overdose is not selfish, .. it is an accident.

He did not intentionally set out to take his own life.

Big difference.

He's got a ton of talent. That's how he got discovered.

I know you won't admit that, but he does, whether you like it or not.

Jim Morrison didn't play anything other than the occasional percussion instrument as far as I know... Bieber is self taught and plays the drums, piano, guitar and trumpet. Plus he actually can sing and dance. He's a d bag, no doubt, but denying his abilities as a musician is hating for the sake of hating.

He is VERY talented. Kid can sing.

He also hangs with Floyd Maywweather, hence the attitude change.

I cant believe you would compare the two. Jim Morrison was an artist wrote and preformed deep, meaningful, songs which will be relevant generations from now.

Justice Beaver is the product of cooperate producers and a team of writers catering to the musical preferences of prepubescent tween girls. A thousand others could take his place and do what he does. He is not special.

The quote from PJ was....Opening a mouth isn't talent. After saying that Bieber was not a musician.

That quote is what was being discussed...not who is the better performer, smarter, will be remembered and so on.

As much as I love the doors and as much as I hate the Brat....the guy was correct in what he was getting at without others trying to change his meaning.

With that said now I am out of this thread because people were so silly that it got me involved in any way shape or form of defending that bieber brat and for that I curse you all.

I read his post. He also said that Justin had "a ton of talent" which I don't believe to be true.

He does have a ton of talent.

He can sing (whether we care for what he sings or not).
He can Dance (whether we care for how he dances)
He can perform on stage (whether we care for how he does it).

And his most impressive talent is being an insufferable little turd.

Just because you or I don't like him, does not mean he does not have a ton of talent.

idk I guess, I'm not musically inclined myself so I'm not exactly an authority on the matter.

But I don't think its fair to compare him to people like Miley, who can't even do that.

I gotcha.

It's hard to judge his Piano skills because he looks like he was probably a preteen, maybe 10 or 11? But that's about what you would expect from someone that age. Not really exceptional. I taught myself how to play the piano around the same age and I was about on that level, maybe further along. I'm not what you would call a talented musician. But hey, maybe he's gotten better, but I kind of doubt it because...

Same thing for drums. Got my first drum kit around 13, and I was probably at the level that Bieber displayed in that video by the age of 14 or 15. Could put down a redundant, unoriginal beat, with some rolls, flams, etc., but lacked any real technical precision, creativity, and I was far from a human metronome.

So him not being much better than a 14 or 15 year old me on the drums is telling. It seems like he started drumming early so the problem is he never learned how to play properly or felt he had mastered the instrument enough to 'wow' his demographic. Seems like he was content with the level he was at, or maybe just not talented enough to surpass it.

I tend to think it was the former and he bounces around instrument to instrument in order to legitimize himself as a musician, but does not actually put in the work it requires.

Meh. I suppose it boils down to an option.

He can sing--well anyone can sing. Does he sing well? Maybe before puberty he had a decent voice, nothing earth shattering . He gets a ton of help from the studio and I'm sure he lip syncing live.

Can he dance? I don't know, never seen him. But, I'm sure he has team of choreographers and he not exactly preforming a ballet. Probably just basic stage "dancing" like Brittney Spears.

"A ton of talent" I don't think so. I'd describe him as a marginal talent who was marketed well based on his looks which happen appeal to young girls.

It's ok to be wrong...happens to me from time to time.

On a positive note.

A good number of the younger ladies who used to like him have started to move on. Whether it be because their individual tastes in music or boys have changed or (and this is something I have noticed at work) they are turned off by his recent attitude and things he has been doing (disrespecting fans, the hooker issues and other stuff of that ilk).

So hopefully in a few years he will just be another has been that nobody cares about anymore.

I think 1direction is the popular alternative now

I just want to add my 2 cents to the whole Beiber vs Morrison (haha) debate. I won't even get into the word "talent" because it's subjective. I want to touch on the matter of musician vs artist. I guess you can say Beiber is a musician. In my opinion, becoming a musician is like becoming a plumber or electrician. It's a skill/trade. It's something I think most people could become if they had the proper desire, resources, opportunities, training, etc. I don't think he's an artist whatsoever though. You could tell even when he was a little kid. Sure, it's impressive that he learned a bunch of instruments at a young age, but he was basically just playing cover songs. I can't fault a kid for playing covers, but eventually you need to play your own music. But in Beiber's case, like other people have mentioned, he became a product of the entertainment business and everything was decided for him. His lyrics, melodies, style, wardrobe, attitude, etc. Morrison, on the other hand, is one of the great artists in music history. To be honest, on a (musical) talent level, Morrison doesn't impress me very much. He can't play guitar like the great ones and can't sing like the great ones. But he's an amazing song writer, lyricist, and one of the most original minds in music history.

Bieber has an expiration date and he's just about reached it. He's dragging out the fame with his antics, but I don't think it's intentional.

This is probably the end for him, unless he transitions like Timberlake did. But I doubt that because Timberlake was always very personable, but he was finally able to have the respect of guys because... well he started acting like a guy and rolling with the punches. He's respected and liked by just about everyone now (it seems).

They don't bother me nearly as much, but why is it so necessary to have five members in the group? They don't really utilize/feature all 5 voices in their songs... or at least the ones I've heard on the radio.

Obviously it's a marketing thing (pick which one you want to marry, pre-teen girls!), but it's really funny to see this formula rolled out once or twice every generation.

I agree. Beiber was a boy wonder. If he remained the boy next door, he would've become irrelevant in a year or two. Becoming the public enemy is probably adding a decade or so to his fame as the male version of Lindsay Lohan.

And I agree about Timberlake. I was in middle school when N'Sync came out and I didn't think they would last. Then Timberlake transitioned into a solo artist and I didn't think he would last either. Then he become versatile musically and started getting into hip hop and pop. I'm definitely not a fan of his music, but I have to give him credit for his acting ability. Very surprised to see how natural of an actor he is. Kinda reminds me of a young Will Smith or Mark Wahlberg. I can see him becoming a respected actor (by the academy) in a decade.

I thought Beiber said he was retiring?

And he's old enough for tats? He looks like he's 12.

I'm 60, so I am no fan of JT per say, .. but I do like him because he doesn't take himself seriously. I have seen him on skits on SNL or with Jimmy Falon and he is acting goofy and funny in ridiculous costumes, etc. He can laugh at himself. He is humble, and is comfortable in his own skin.
