Is this kid for real?

The numbers he's putting up this season are incredible:

- *10 straight games with at least 125 yards receiving
- 10 straight games where he's caught a TD
- 18 TDs this season (1 rushing)
- 1,547 yards on 92 receptions (through 3 QTRs of today's game)

He's accomplished all of that despite the fact he missed a game due to suspension and he still has another game to go.

I'm still trying to get a feel for this kid's game as he sort of burst onto the scene this year.

He reminds me a bit of former North Carolina State star Koren Robinson (not one immune to DUI's either). Like Robinson, there's not one aspect of Blackmon's game that has really jumped out to me (ie. speed/quickness), but he has good size 6'1 205 lb and has a really good release off of the line. He also looks very well-developed physically for a player his age.

What do you think?

is this the kid at Okla St? If so, he reminds me of Dez. Looks to be a big strong WR, great after the catch. His hi lites this season look like Dez 2-3 seasons ago.

125, 132, 174, 127, 190, 207, 157, 173, 145, 130 (so far)....................to be continued

Those are some crazy games looking at the yardage alone not even figuring in TD's and that he averages 17 yards a reception

Impressive, but no comparison to Dez, not even close.

Firstly, Blackmon has a much MUCH better quarterback then Dez did.

Secondly, Ok St. has a new offensive C. who was also better then the coordinator Dez had. Also, the scheme now is completely different. It favors the passing game.

I was reading on an OK State forum, and the OP entertained the idea that Blackmon was better then Dez, and the whole board strongly disagreed. Brought up the points above, and said Dez was the much better receiver. Someone even said that if Dez was still there, he'd have a 2000 yard season, and some even agreed with him. Let's be honest, he probably would.

There's a reason Dez was projected to go top 5, and Blackmon isn't.

But imagine if Ok state still had Dez? That offense would literally be unstoppable.

I've known this guy and his family for a long time.

Good to see him doing big things. Im shocked though that he has gotten so big.

He must have put on 20 lbs of muscle in a year.

Brandon Weeden while better than Robinson, is still not higher than a 4th/5th round prospect in 2012.

Blackmon is simply outstanding. May endup being a better prospect than Bryant, if he can keep his nose/name clean, he can be a top 5 pick. IF he waits a year. If he comes out this year, late 1st/early 2nd. If we're picking early and hes still there i'd be tempted, but it would just be a huge waste of a pick due to need.

The scary thing is Dez was better IMO.

I doubt Weeden gets drafted. He's already 27.

He was. Without a doubt.
Off the top of my head the only 5 receivers that I can compare to Dez on the college level are Charles Rogers, Larry Fitzgerald, Calvin Johnson, Randy Moss, and Mike Williams.

Yep, good list. I'd add Crabtree to that list, even though techs offense threw the ball 60 times a game.

Didn't he have one elite year? Most of those had multiple elite years.

Blackmon has been very impressive, but I don't think he's on the same skill level as Dez, at least I haven't seen out of him thus far.

Numbers don't always tell the story, especially a simple one like Blackmon's stats are better than Dez's stats, therefore Blackmon > Dez.

you realize he only got to play a couple games last year right?

why do you even bother responding to him? He clearly has no idea what he's talking about... just ignore him. Dez hate is starting to piss a lot of people off.

His sophomore year. His junior one he was on pace also before the suspension.
