Friends of Jay Novachek.

Gregory could probably put on some weight if he stopped smoking out. Every pothead I ever knew were skinny little things despite the munchies.

Yeah, look at Mark Stepnoski. There was a picture of him at practice or camp or pregame a couple years. I would have never guessed it was him....really thin.

This is from the "Dez Rules" article from the DMN.

"Gilmore also said Gregory will have a nutritional plan in place he’ll follow with the Cowboys. Gregory said he weighs about 240 right now but his average weight is close to 260."

Good parallel, at least in regards to the marijuana. Gregory's bi-polar things make him a little more challenging.

OMG! This is totally an indication that Randy will have a 20-sack season.

I think Gregory can be a Houston-type producer if he does not get suspended. He has more raw talent than Houston had coming out.

The big plus to me is his makeup and how it relates to where he is. He did come from a military family, Marinelli is ex-military. He could be a good driving factor getting him to do what he needs to. I do not think Gregory is your standard bad seed who you have to watch over. I think he is a challenged young man who needs to be told what to do and a lot of enforced structure. Leave him alone too long, he could wander into traffic.

More than the drugs, his low weight and the resulting pounding he'll take from NFL OTs are more concerning.

He broke his leg earlier in his career and then this past year had knee, head, and ankle injuries. Those injuries kept him out of the game against Iowa where I would have been really interesting to see him go against Scherff.

325 lb OTs going against 225 LBs can have a negative effect on the human body...

He has to gain weight.

He has already gained weight since the combine. He is almost 250 now, before even getting in an NFL strength and nutrition program. Like most great pass rushers, he's so long that he looks a little thin, like Aldon Smith did.

He will play in the 260'ish range and be more than fine. He is going to be in a rotation with Hardy, Lawrence, and Mincey anyway early on in his career. He will get in on nickle plays and will be able to pin his ears back and go after the QB.

I understand why you don't like to see Dallas get him and don't like the idea of him and Hardy getting after Aaron Rogers... but no need to make things up like he's too light to play.

He uses his arm length to keep those big guys off of him. He understands leverage. He'll be fine.

My point was that there have been other players who failed combine drug tests and avoided later issues. The hyperbole around the pick makes it seem like Gregory was the first to do it and has no chance to stay out of trouble.
