People in Cincinatti are probably wondering when (if ever) it will get better.

49es still havent really helped themselves on offense though. Bruce isn't going to be a huge difference maker. Same goes with Foster. Those 2 are really just solid but not difference makers.

Their DEF wasnt all that bad last year, except their offense scored like 14 points a game.

Palmer's arm's going to fall off having to play catch up more than they did in the past (which was a lot to begin w/).

Awful lot to pay a guy that had a whopping 2 sacks last year.

Plus, are they going to play him at DE in their 3-4? He seems a little undersized.

People in Cincinnati are probably also wondering why teams are paying so much for their defensive players

People were saying last year about how much the Niners had improved and they went out and won 5 games. They don't play in the toughest division, so they have a shot to make a run at a playoff spot. I just don't see the offensive talent minus Gore at this point.

Smith's agent mentioned that SF is playing a hybrid 3-4 so that puts Smith in a position to win also. This guy is young and hasn't missed a single game since his rookie year. Good signing in my opinion.

I think he slots in to Pace's spot at OLB. I heard other reports thinking he could play OLB in a 3-4. Funny that Cincy let him go because they were likely switching to a 3-4.

what are you talking about? Calvin Pace played for Arizona. Also, I don't think SF signs Smith to play OLB. They are deep at the LB position but they need help at the Dline.

If they go 3-4 he would probably have to play SOLB like Ellis with Lawson on the weak side. But haven't they been forced to play 4-3 the last couple of years?
