Keys to a 5-1 Record:

1) Pull out tape of 2014

2) Run a offense that controls the score and the clock

3) Have a defense that is good enough

4) Own the 4th Quarter with a dominant OLine

5) Wash, Rinse, Repeat

If Aaron Rogers plays like Aaron Rogers, the game is a nailbiter – and I’m not sure it’s a win or a loss.

For all the carping on this message board about coaching, Linehan called a very good game. They had a good game plan and called the right plays at the right time.

If Dez plays in this game instead of Butler (and I like Butler), we win this game by 28 instead of 14.

Dak Prescott absolutely is a special player and if you didn’t believe it the first 40 times I posted that, believe it now. When my kids go to college they will be watching Dak win Super Bowls while wearing Super Bowl rings from earlier wins.

But…..

Stepping back a step, if your QB is playing in front of the best OLine in the NFL and a RB on a pace for 1845 yards (plus 294 yards receiving) – aren’t they going to look good no matter what?

David Irving played a great game but some of the forced fumbles were a case of the fish jumping into the boat. He was hurt before but is finally playing while healthy. The key thing with him is that we finally have a DL that is 8 deep:

LDE – Crawford and Irving

1 T – McClain and Thornton

3T – Collins and Jack Crawford

RDE – Dlaw and Mayowa

Anthony Brown was forced into a bigger role than expected and didn’t play great, but still played fairly well. But he did it as a rookie, which means he was be a solid starter next year with more experience and conditioning.

Yes if AR was playing better, it would have been different. However, the game plan was not to let him be AR of the past. Keep him in the pocket, do not let him get outside, where he can find open WR or scramble and run. I think they were willing to not get the sacks as opposed to just keep him contained and get some pressure. Which they did.

AR has not been the same since Denver destroyed them last year. In his 15 games since, he has been off. Did Denver show how to finally beat AR consistently or are there other issues. Maybe the team around him just are not as good too.

A few local radio shows already making up reasons why GB lost. AR not playing well, RB's out, CB's injured. Blah, blah, blah. We won, it's simple, we were the better team.

Anthony Brown is looking very good, as well as David Irving, being healthy now, played fantastic in his limited snaps. Can't wait to see him smash the ball in Wentz face. Oh, wait, that would be blow to the head somehow, the way the refs work...ok, smash it in his gut.

I haven't rewatched, but I thought Brown played very well.

I think the big difference is that in 2014 the defense was never going to be good enough. We were winning, but you knew in the playoffs it probably wouldn't hold up and it eventually didn't against Green Bay.

This year the defense can hold up and we just might have a shot. Keep your eye on Def Pass Rating - you know that's the big stat that correlates to winning.

They gameplanned well but Rogers was missing throws that he normally makes. GB has great talent on offense, even with the injuries and the game would have been very close if Rogers was making the throws he normally makes IMO.

I agree, I've always thought that Dez obviously had a catch in that game, but Rogers would have taken GB down the field to win the game in the final seconds.

If GB won and we offered up excuses they would be saying "injuries are part of the game. Suck it up."

The run game success is the only thing that looks similar to 2014 with the offense. The plays are different, no dez, much more beasley, wider use of all the receivers in the offense.

I think he put the ball high to Cobb because he was unsure of how far back that first wave of defenders were. He was trying not to get an interception.

This is how smart Marinelli is.

Points per drive
2016 2.79
2014 2.62

The pre-half 98 yard drive was awe inspiring

The 4th quarter throw to Witten was cold blooded

A good offense is the best way to help the D.......playing with a 2 score 4th quarter lead is very pleasing

You're forgetting that this is what Rogers "normally" plays like now -- or even better than normal. His completion percentage against us was his highest in the past 21 games, and his passer rating was slightly higher than his rating over the past 21 games.

Rodgers was missing deep throws when it counted. Most of his passing yards were either after the game was out of reach or in the last drive before the half. IMO you normally see Rodgers hit big plays that put the team ahead or put the game way and you didn't see that on Sunday.

My only hope was that GB woulda scored so quickly it would have given Romo some time go to back down and score
