My key takeway two weeks ago was “Defense Wins Championships” because the Defense had gelled and began playing very well.

Now the Offense is coming together. They have a big issue with pass protection but overall the execution is there now. That was the key to the Eagles game, Amari Cooper is fully integrated into the offense now and despite sacks and turnovers, they still controlled the game to beat a Division rival. If you have a bunch of turnovers (like the Seattle game this year), you lose. If you give up 6 sacks (or 3 sacks and 3 holding penalties like this game), you lose. But Dallas had both of those things and still won this game because the offense executed.

Dallas is back to the days of “Pick your poison” in that they will kill you with passing if you key on the run (something they never did in the first half of this season and second half of last season). If you key on the pass, they will kill you with the run.

First half stats:

Zeke – 10 carries for 72 yards (Rod Smith 2/15)

Amari – 1 catch for 27 yards

Dallas controls the game at that point and Philly HAS to key on the run or they have absolutely no chance of winning. They pick the poison of Amari Cooper.

2nd Half (before OT):

Zeke – 11 carries for 25 yards

Amari – 7 catches for 163 yards

They picked their poison and Amari killed them. The 75 yard Go route TD was proof of that because there was no deep safety on the play.

Some other notes –

I loved the call to go for it on 4th Down in OT. It works, but you can only go for it in that spot if you have a defense you can trust – and now we do.

Alshon Jeffrey was the guy I really wanted to sign two years ago when he was a FA. He asked for a lot but didn't get big offers, then took a pillow contract in Philly while Twill quickly came back to Dallas on a relatively cheap deal when he didn’t any offers. I get how the timing played out, but since then Jeffrey has 106 catches for 14 Million in salary while Twill has 55 catches for 9 Million in salary. (The 5 Million difference is what we paid Hurns this year). I really wish that had worked out and I don’t think Philly gets a ring last year if Jeffrey isn’t on their team in 2018. Our first half this year is different too.

I called Vegas before the game and bet $100 that Blake Jarwin would have more catches than Zach Ertz. I won the 10 Billion Dollars needed to buy the Cowboys. See you in the Sky Box, suckers!!!

Jarwin really showed great hands and adjustments yesterday, he must be blocking OK or he wouldn’t have been on the field to have 7 catches in 7 targets. Dalton Schultz is starting to show something as well. The TE position has been our weakest link this season (by far) but both those guys may develop into an OK starter or quality backup next season. We probably don’t have to overpay to upgrade the position and get by with what we have next year, similar to the Safety position this season. Acquire a guy like Cameron Brate, then let Jarwin or Schultz play TE2 and you will be fine. I don't think there are FA or draft options that would be the big upgrade we need, for 2019 anyway.

On the Randy Gregory sack in the first quarter, he covered 17 yards. He went 12 yards into the backfield getting around the RT, then 5 yards back to get Wentz. That kind of field speed is why he would have gone in the top five if he was a Boy Scout.

I can’t believe that loser QB, missing open passes and playing poorly for long stretches of the game. But enough about Carson Wentz.

Liked the write up but there are a ton of TEs in the draft that could help Dallas. I think OL might take priority but this is another deep middle class of TEs.

Who do you like at TE? I haven't studied this class yet.

Good stuff....... but AJeffrey is getting 13m a year from PHI

His deal is confusing but it comes out to 4/52m or 5/65m with incentives..... it is no bargain but fair
