The bottom line for me is whether Dak is improving year over year and can the team win with him. I was seriously questioning whether he was improving after the first 3 games, but yesterday gave me some hope. It's only one game so I'm how I was before the season - I want to see how he does for the rest of the year.

Great post. We have seen the highs from Dak, clearly he made the transition to the NFL better than anyone in history. And in the last 12 games we have seen the lows with him reacting to pressure. But its also a normal part of development that every QB goes through, almost every top QB has had some type of sophomore slump. My money would be on Dak getting better at handling pressure as he goes.

I should have noted that, I'm not knocking Brees in any way or his leadership. But Brees didn't see the field as a rookie while Dak started day one and went to a Pro Bowl. In his third season Brees had the kind of season Dak did in the second half last year, while Dak is clearly one of the primary leaders of this team at the same point.

I'm not putting Brees down in any way, but Dak has done more and done it earlier in his career.
So what you are saying is that Dak has done more than Brees at the same point in their careers. At the end of the day Dak will never be in the same zip code as Brees ever again, but maybe we are just discussing their first 3 years.

The only person looking at Dak as an Aikman or Brees type player is the OP. He’s not McNair either. All those guys were elite pro prospects.

Dak is closer to Quincy. He reminds me of Quincy a lot. Quincy was a better runner but Dak has better size (same height but Dak is 20 lbs heavier). Dak also doesn’t have an affection for weed as far as we know.
Quincy had a better arm too. Dak is better between the ears and more likable but far from the qb that we need.

One factor people are forgetting about the oline is that every year this core group has been together it seems to take around week 3 or 4 before they start hitting on all cylinders. Which would make sense since they spend very little time playing together in game situations during the preseason. Just bacon for thought

So through 2.25 years of their careers Dak has been better than Brees, but he can't be better over the long term?

Why not? Dak has a lot more athleticism and made a much faster mental adjustment to the NFL. Why do you rule out his career being better when all is said and done?

What is this obsession with "holding jock straps". It's a weird fixation. Should we be hoping that one day Dak is qualified to carry or hold Drew's jockstrap? Should Dak have that as his motivation? How do we know when Dak is ready to carry Drew's jockstrap? Will there be a tryout?

Such a weird metaphor, but sports fans sure do seem to like it.

We outscored them just enough to win using a heavy dose of Zeke and timely execution in the passing game..situational execution is what won it. Hate to say it..JG outcoached Patricia. Here was the plan...turn around hand the ball to Zeke a bunch and pass him the rock more on the edge. Mission accomplished. We ground out a nice win against an up and coming team. Now lets do the same thing against Houston.

Zeke is our best player on offense...makes the entire engine go. Makes sense to give him the bulk of the work. Its football 101. We went away from that last year and some this year. Our winning formula is lots of Zeke and playing good situational ball.

Swaim had a decent game too. Texans better watch him. If we can get Jarwin the ball in the seam. he is a much better athlete...and can take one to the house. This may be one of those games where we see one of our TE's break out in a big way. cough cough..Rico.

Because frankly I do not see Dak getting anywhere close to the HOF. We have a qb that struggles to pass for over 200 yrds on a consistent basis, has trouble throwing the ball down the field and yet you see him in the HOF, HOF of character sure but that about it.

Great post Kaiser.

Funny how one sentence is all that a lot of folks got out of it. Even funnier that they refuse to go with the gist of it instead of taking it as a literal, black & white statement. Personally I sailed right past that I latched onto the LVE comments. I wasn't even thinking this was a QB thread.

The problem if these folks are trying to compare Dak to seasoned veterans. For instance they bring up Romo being better, the question should be at what time frame. Romo didn't see the field for 3 years while Dak is just 4 games into his 3rd year. You pointed out Brees, I will go a step farther and say Aikman. If Dak had played like Aikman his first 3 years it would be worst now. Jimmy stayed with him and let him develop into what he became.

To make it even funnier, I used to get flamed in Dak's rookie year for posting he was inconsistent within games. Now I'm getting flamed for not thinking he is Quincy Freaking Carter.

Exactly, and I'm not even saying Dak is as good as Brees, just that their playing styles and strengths in execution are similar. Like you say, Apples to Apples Brees had a season on the bench, an OK season and a really bad one. But something something Dak aint never gonna be as good!!!

You forgot the always erroroneous "that noodle-armed Dak can't do deep!"

We're all about change this season. Glad to see you've jumped on board the train.
