Kalen Thornton to go on IR

spoke to someone close to his family a few mins ago. They said Kalen is going on injured reserve for the year, guess his knee was worse than they 1st thought. Nothing offically released yet but should be coming soon.

This is a big surprise. I knew he was hurt but he had been playing on it. I expected him to be able to play through it.

I expected it, he's not ready but he's talented this is a way to stash him, I think they'll do the same with berry-o. They both come in with more experience and healthy.

He looked good except with the bad knee, he didn't have any burst to the qb. He probably would have started over Ware if not for the injury and then Ware could have come in for rushing situations.

this is good news. he'll get time to rehab and not make it a chronic issue which usually happens to those who thoughen it out. Obgobu will hold the fort this year and next year thorton will come back to terrorize qb's. Beriault should get his knee scoped and stay inactive for 4 weeks or whatever, but i want him to play this year.

You can only PUP at the beginning of training camp. Way too late for that so it is IR, cut or keep...looks like it will be IR.

THAT'S EXACTLY RIGHT!!!!
I love Thorton's potential. When he came in, he was bringing the heat on the QB and actually reminded me a lot of Ware the way he was getting after the QB. He has some speed and quickness and probably even moreso when he's back to 100%. I was really afraid we were going to cut him and he may have been on the bubble but I thought he was too talented and had too much potential for that. I'm glad for this even though we won't get to see him play this year, we still get to keep him for the long haul and won't have to worry about someone else getting him off of waivers.
Ditto for Berry-O if they do this with him which i expect us to.
