OK, I obviously failed English class repeatedly and don't know how to state things clearly. I can't edit topic posts so let me try this again.

Do you view Karl Joseph as a 2 contract player that is worth pick 34? Derrick Henry most do not want at 34 because he is viewed as a 1 contract player. Is it not the same situation with Joseph? Are you ok with taking Joseph at 34 over other positions that are much safer picks to be 2+ contract roles like DE, DT, CB, WR, etc.

IMO, he's worth the pick. But here's the deal. This isn't my first rodeo. Even the mock I'll post right before the draft isn't really the players I'd pick because you, I or even the teams themselves don't know how these players will be picked. I can target a guy at 34 now and think it's a great pick but I guarantee you someone will fall out of the 1st round that I do not expect and that guy will probably be my target once we're on the clock. It only increases as the draft progresses. How the heck is this guy still here in the 5th round?! I had him in the 3rd!

But Joseph is a beast of a player and I bet he's off the board by the mid 2nd.

If we get him in the 2nd in happy, if we can trade back and get him in the 2nd I'm happier. Would you risk it?

With this draft, I could see a DE with a first round grade being there at 34. Alot of Demarcus Lawrence level types in this draft IMO. If I had to wager money on a pick at it would be bewteen DE and WR. I see this as a drafr where a majority of the top 5 WRs goe between picks 27 and 40. If Treadwell is there at 34 ( and it's a possibility) that has to be a leading candidate

We NEED a player like him in the worst damn way and he should be there at 34.

If also somehow the first pick could be Lawson or Rankins with a deal down, I can get real excited about what this defense may look like.

I want Wentz or Goff, but if they are gone the above is really the way to go IMO.

I think Joseph is worth it, yes. I have a feeling he slips to the third though

but would rather add a 2nd Rounder by trade down in 1st Round than get him and a WR in the 2nd Round but back to Karl Joseph
I have read articles stating some who believe hes a mixture of Earl Thomas and Kim Chanceler and that's good enough for me. We need that roaming in our Secondary. Get him if possible.

Yes I would. Put him at SS and Byron at FS and we are set at safety for the next 10 years.

I don't question the potential of him when operating at 100%. 10 years is a long career for someone who plays with reckless abandon like Joseph. Maybe if he were coached well and picked and chose good spots to try and destroy people he could. Or maybe he can just stick to attacking knees. It's still a risk.

I don't normally give you likes because you are a likes ***** but this post was so dead on that I had to break my rule.

Is Joseph even 100% yet?

I've read a couple articles stating that he would be ready by the start of the season. With that said I would take him in the second and not think twice. I think he compares to Bob Sanders in style of play hopefully without all the nagging injuries though. Outside of this knee injury I can't recall him ever missing a game.

I wouldn't take him over a CB or DE or DT (or WR or RB or QB) of similar value. All things being equal, a SS is not critical enough to value that highly, especially a small one with a knee injury that won't be right until training camp.

And obviously if we took Ramsey at #4 there's no way I'd take KJ at #34.

Bob Sanders was definitely small and as physical, but he also ran a 4.3 40. I am a huge Karl Joseph fan but due to his injuries and size, believe he will be available in the 3rd.

Only thing that would prevent me from taking Joseph at 34 is if a stud DT was still available. My two favorite things about this draft are Joseph and the depth at DT. Unfortunately, we probably can't get both because the #4 pick is too high for a DT and the best ones will be off the board in the top 50 picks. If we don't go QB I'd love a trade down so we could get Jospeh and a pair of DTs.

Yeah, that's what I'm mocking currently. A DE sliding to 34.

My guess is if we keep both picks we'll end up with two players that everyone considers 1st rounders.

Not with Church and Wilcox still having a role on the team. I would snatch him @ 34 if possible while knowing some may regard it as a reach. KJ Dillon in the 3rd wouldn't be a terrible idea either if Joseph isn't the pick at 34 or a trade back. With the way the league is moving with D rules/restrictions on hitting QBs/WRs, both Safeties need to be able to cover. Modern SSs should be able to cover TEs, scat backs, etc.
