Has the NFL fines been announced? Is he going to get fined for a clean hit and playing good (great?) defense on the hit on Tremble?

I know y'all want to see it again so here it is. (I turned the sound of as it was nails on a blackboard quality)

Multiple angles . Enjoy:

WHACK!

I think fines are sent out on Thursdays. I can just about guarantee that he won't be fined...that was as clean a hard hit as can be! If he's not fined, that'll be the leagues unspoken announcement that he shouldn't have been flagged.

In fairness to the refs that was a bang, bang play and Kazee delivered a big hit. In slow motion it was easy to see it was clean shot, shoulder going into shoulder. However full speed that is hard to tell given the whiplash motion of the WR when he took the hit. Maybe replay needs to be used for that as well because the speed in which it happens in real time is not an easy call to make.

It was clean and the refs know it. The refs will send out a official “my bad” later this week. They should have picked the flag up. Guessing they will call it most of the time. Just put flags on their sides.

Should have been. I think a few of the refs looked up at the replay. Was hoping they would look at it and pick the flag up.

I'm sure they did but unfortunately it in not reviewable. So unless another ref with a different vantage point saw something different they will stick to the call on the field.

The only reason for the penalty is cause he launched himself, but yes a clean hit.
  1. illegally launching into a defenseless opponent. It is an illegal launch if a player (i) leaves both feet prior to contact to spring forward and upward into his opponent, and (ii) uses any part of his helmet to initiate forcible contact against any part of his opponent’s body. (This does not apply to contact against a runner, unless the runner is still considered to be a defenseless player, as defined in Article 7.)
Don't know how he could get fined watching the replay according to the rules

What a bunch of crock. That was shoulder to shoulder hit and he didn't lead with the helmet.

When I saw it live, I said "Damn. When did Roy Will 31 come back to play for us?"

They used to fine you whether or not the call was correct or not and then I think you’d get the money back if it was appealed or whatever.

Agree. I can't really fault the officials for flagging that hit even though they shouldn't have. Watching it live, I instantly knew flags were going to fly...and they did. It's plays like those that validate the need to have an official in the booth that can, through the benefit of replay/slo-mo, relay to the field officials when calls are erroneously made or missed.

When is anyone going to understand that old men chasing around elite athletes aren't going to get every call right?

This could be EASILY fixed with an additional ref next to a monitor full time, but the league refuses.

I won't give my opinion as to why, but they could get these things correct if they so choose.
