We don't need a 1T. Jeebus, Zoners. Certainly one that will tie up some serious coin. Re-sign TMac, rotate him with our 1T "splash" signing last year, and upgrade our D where it's needed.

This fascination with Poe is bewildering for a bunch of diehards such as yourselves.
We don't anyone because the FO signed T Crawford to a $45 million deal . He's the defensive lines difference maker, war daddy, and catalytic player.

Muh Ninja, not much. Just buckling down for FA and the draft :)

Crawford is an albatross, now. It is what it is, Loc. Gotta wait it out.

All aboard the "Re-sign TMac train," Stash. At times last year, he was our most disruptive DL. Dude just needs to hit the gym and train hard and do all he can to avoid that daggon injury bug.

I thought he did a fine job last season. I wouldn't guarantee a lot, but I would like to keep him around.

Pass on both. These are the kind of guys we needed when we were running a 3/4 defense. I don't think either one fits Marinelli's scheme. Marinelli wants rush men and I have a feeling the only time these guys rush is when there is food waiting on the table.
How much longer do we have to wait to see these "rush men" we've been hearing about the last 4 years? I say go get the best guys available.

So you want Dallas to go sign players that don't fit the scheme? I want them to get the best players available too if they are going to work in Dallas' scheme. Why would we over pay in free agency for 2 players that won't work with what we do on defense? Ask Philadelphia how it felt in 2015 when they signed the best running back (Demarco Murray) available and then placed him in a scheme that was not a fit. Lots of money wasted and a disaster. If you want Poe or Williams then you need to get rid of Marinelli and hire a new DC because they won't work in the scheme he runs.

I understand what your saying, but I'm also a lil tired of hearing about rushmen who can't rush the passer.

Rather name them, 'men who stand around and collect a paycheck'.

New name, paycheck collectors.

I'm not talking exclusively about Poe in reference to go get the best guys available, just that there are DL available that we shouldn't turn our noses up at because of some "rush men" philosophy that has been 4 years in the making and hasn't materialized. And believe me I'm not far off from that last sentence in your post.

I was a big fan of signing Poe, but after I realized he had back issues and had continued with having a wieght problem( thanks to whoever informed me of that, it was a regular poster here), I'm torn. I questioned his work ethic back when he got drafted, but thought he had made a turn for the better. I desperately want our line to have a 1 tech that commands a C and G, and can help with the run game. But I think I might be getting my hopes too high, we just don't spend the $ for most top free agents.

I don't blame Marinelli because he is handcuffed by our free agent philosophy and our poor history of drafting good defensive lineman. We bargain shop when it comes to free agency so your chances of getting a great defensive lineman are close to zero. In the last 5 drafts we have taken 8 defensive lineman. Tyrone Crawford = OK, but severely overpaid. Getting starter money when he is probably a backup, Ken Bishop = trash, Ben Gardner = trash, Demarcus Lawrence = OK, if he could stay healthy and off the suspension list, Ryan Russell = trash, Charles Tapper = Incomplete due to injury rookie year, Randy Gregory = Trash, suspension machine, Maliek Collins = OK, trending toward good

8 DLine drafted with 4 = trash, 1 = incomplete, 2 = OK, and 1 = OK, trending toward good. Then we sign low costs development players in free agency hoping we know something more than the other teams and hoping we can coach them up. It is the same philosophy we once used with the OLine.

Remember, prior to the 2011 draft, when we drafted and acquired our OLine like we now do with our DLine? Here are our OLine draftees from 2005 - 2010:

Rob Petitti
Pat McQuistan
James Marten
Doug Free
Robert Brewster
Sam Young

Doug Free was actually the ringer out of that group. lol

Other than Carr, and I guess to a lesser extent Hardy what was our last "expensive" signing?

Are the cap issues solely from big contracts to our own? I.E. Romo, Tyron, Dez, Lee, Frederick, Crawford and Witt? Even after letting Ware and DeMarco leave? Do other teams (aside from the Patriots) just not sign their own players?

Funny how Thornton played less and less as the year went on. I'm kind of surprised he hasn't been cut to free up some cap space.

If they do anything in FA, they will sign a few of their own and more bargain bin guys to fill holes.

We have to feel great that SJ said we are not paying any significant pressure players in FA because they are not worth the money and that we must look to the draft, then say drafting at 28 you are hard pressed to find a true pass rusher much less further down.

They are going with the same platoon strategy most likely.

He actually played a pretty consistent number of snaps throughout the year. He had a two-game peak in weeks 5-6 but played more snaps per game weeks 11-13 than he did weeks 1-4. After Week 13 he didn't play the rest of the regular season because of an ankle injury.
