Anyone know anything about Keenan Mace? He was never listed on the Cowboys roster, but I thought he was in camp due to a few articles I saw:

http://www.scntx.com/articles/2011/08/03/sports_update/8241.txt

But then just a couple days ago I saw that he was declared eligible for the supplemental draft, which is confusing:

Anyway, could the Cowboys now throw a 7th round pick at him in the supplemental draft? Probably more likely for no one to draft him and the Cowboys to sign him again as a free agent I guess..

I talk to him a bit. He was deemed ineligible due to college eligibility.
He has entered the supplemental draft and the Cowboys are still interested... unfortunately so are the Commanders, Patriots and a number of other teams.

He said he would like to remain a Cowboy.

So how did Mace go from being "signed" since he was involved in practices to being put in the supplemental draft? Looks like the nfl really dropped the ball on that one.

According to one article, he completed his senior year.

Hey, he's 6-4, 315 pounds, and reportedly can turn the 40 in as fast as 4.8 seconds... knowing that other teams are interested in him, yeah, I'd think hard about spending a late draft pick on him... he could be our next Josh Brent...

Another prospect I'd think about spending a supplemental pick on is the safety from Northern Illinois, Tracy Wilson... he was hurt much of last year, but in 09 he had 93 tackles and 4 ints... at 6-2, 205, he has nice size...

Don't care much for the other 2 prospects currently available in the supplemental draft, CB Torez Jones from Western Carolina and RB Caleb King from Georgia...

we do need better safeties. Lets solve the problem with a guy who actually played safety in college and produced. Cowboys should throw a 6th or 7th.

The 6-foot-4, 313-pound Mace started seven of the team's 11 games at defensive tackle in 2010, making 24 tackles, five for loss and a sack to earn third-team all-conference honors. He also recovered three fumbles on the year. He did not play in 2008 or 2009, however, after a solid freshman performance (24 tackles, four for loss, 0.5 sack) because he had family responsibilities.

Mace played for the Allen (TX) Wranglers in the Indoor Football League this spring, where he had 43 tackles, including 6.0 sacks. He was signed by the Dallas Cowboys for a few days at the start of camp before being released Aug. 2. It is unclear if the league forced Dallas to release Mace so he could be part of the supplemental draft, or if he's simply trying to get more exposure.
