LVE, Mazi, Overshown, MIA. It would have been nice to pick up some experience in free agency.
We are negative 11 million in 2024 cap. (Dak is $$$$.)

Not a lot of room for big $$$ FAs.

IMO It's not about bigger players, just better.

Our linebackers have always been a weak point going back to when Sean Lee would get injured, sans the 1.5 years with McClain and the one year Hitchens was solid.
Dallas has been taking red flag risks on LBs and prioritizing SPARQ over instincts IMO.

The defensive tackles with Rod was more about effort and not prioritizing talent. Say what you will with the 2013 draft but the scouts were set on Floyd but Rod didn't want him.
Worked out in hindsight, but it was the mindset of the team under the direction of Rod. Ignoring the DT spot. Minus the team falling in love with a high SPARQ bum in Hill, who fell in the second cause of his flags.

With Nolan they brought in two over the hill DT's but at least it was a start. With Quinn, they brought in an over the hill with some gas left in Hankins and drafted Mazi who is TBD. I can't hate the fact they drafted a DT high.

Dallas needs to continue to improve the DT spot and linebackers. Smith may pan out and Overshown could too, but they need more than one competent player at each position.

We need players that can stop the run.
We had them they got injured. We lost two middle linebackers this season two that I thought would have a chance to be great.

It’s too bad we lost two really good linebackers to injuries this season. And our starting corner. Period. I think he’s done a great job with what he has

If we fail this year it’s because the defense is too small.
I don’t think Dan Quinn expected to not have linebackers on the roster. The league is starved for elite linebacker play and this team hasn’t addressed that in the draft. LVE getting hurt should’ve been expected. Needed someone ready to play and Bell came on and did good stuff but his size limits him at times.

They did address the position with Micah, but he ended up being an all world pass rusher. The run defense has improved substantially since they've given him LB reps. Overshown was expecting big playing time this year and got hurt. They've put the resources into the position, it just hasn't worked out the way they expected, for better or worse.

Quinns defense has worked out well in Dallas. The lack of size in the middle of the D could fall on the shoulders of the GM. The Cowboys' D is two players away from being downright dominant. They had chances to pick up some monster DTs the past year and passed on them. That is likely not on Quinn.
