Team is not physical enough to stop the run. Our best best is to contain the run

This defense is built on speed, pass rush, and generating turnovers via playing from ahead. The key to this is the offense and jumping out to early leads. They do not do well playing from behind and get worn down quickly as teams will run all over us.

However the defense has done its job the last two years agaisnt the niners

They did address the position with Micah, but he ended up being an all world pass rusher. The run defense has improved substantially since they've given him LB reps. Overshown was expecting big playing time this year and got hurt. They've put the resources into the position, it just hasn't worked out the way they expected, for better or worse.
I mean that’s a big part of it. But Micah has been here 3 years now…they whiffed on a few guys like Jabril Cox.

What I don't like is the defense always seems to wilt in November around Thanksgiving.

Turnovers and sacks always seem to dwindle unless they play a dead team like the Commanders.
yeah and when someone calls this team inconsistent you bash them

Will this new coach play defensive tackle? It would be easier to find a run stuffer to play DT and beef up at LB.

Anyone should look at our history of being very vulnerable to teams who were willing to line up & play power football against us and realize we need to focus on that. Whether it be acquisition of players to fit this scheme or change to a 3-4, etc.. Something needs to change.

I like more aggressive defenses, and the Cowboys can play that style very well. But there are times when Quinn plays his defenses very soft, especially in the last two minutes of halves. I think when you are up 7 with under 2 minutes to play, you get more aggressive, not less. you force QBs to get rid of the ball before they want to instead of giving them time to find an open receiver. Against the Lions, Quinn pulled his defense back and it almost cost them the game. I would prefer to see the defense attacking the QB in those situations.

If we fail this year it’s because the defense is too small.
Our linebacker unit sucks. No heavy hitter than inflict pain, Wilson is the best tackler we have in the backend and he's a safety. LVE even when healthy is not a playmaker and Clark is utterly useless.

Agreed. Definitely something to consider in the offseason and question the entire roster, including guys who are sized right but not progressing or injured often.

My money would be on DQ getting a job somewhere too, so will work well. Can revamp roster and schemes at the same time.

My dream would be a 3-4 defense. Micah as the Edge. Tank probably fit in as a LB too, lose some weight, maybe have a longer career. Mazi as a DE. Big Hank as the nose. Move our 4-3 LBs to Safety. Might be too much change though.

Nothing they can do about it now. Pressure is on the offense to score fast and early. Because we definitely know the defense can have a party with the pass rush.
