I was just thinking about players who I'd like to see back. It's not a list of who is good, who is bad, etc. There are guys I won't list that I likely would have no problem coming back. Just guys I think that should definitely be a part of the 2021 defense.

Lawrence - he gets a lot of unnecessary crap IMO
Gallimore - I like him but he's likely a good rotational guy, not a dominant starter
Gregory - probably our best pure pass rusher
Wilson - worst case, I think he could end up being a much better version of Heath (3rd S, nickel guy)
Diggs - He had struggles but he also flashed

That's really it and that's kind of depressing. I guess you could add LVE to the list, so that's 6 guys I'd like to see back. That's crazy how few players we have that are good, intrigue me for 2021.

The amount of work that has to go into rebuilding a terrible D is pretty depressing. Especially if it's Nolan helping reshape the D.

What about Diggs

Lawrence
Gallimore
Aldon Smith
Gregory
Diggs
Wilson
Anae
Bernard
Goodwin
Robinson

I’m sure I’m missing 1-2. Only guys I welcome back here.

I would add Diggs to the list, with being a rookie and adjusting to the game with no preseason, he held up to his capacity and will only get better.

None. Sell them all and pull a Miami. Gather as many draft picks as possible. That includes Lawrence, Gregory, and Diggs. I want this team blown up.

Miami missed the playoffs and seemed to have whiffed on Tua. Crazy isn’t it

Seems pretty silly to just give up on a young, cheap CB. I mean that's the point of blowing it up. Getting a bunch of young, cheap defenders. So let's trade one to draft one?

Pretty good list, honestly. And that’s sad. I wouldn’t miss any individual defensive player (except maybe Diggs and Gregory) if they’re not here next year

I would add Anthony Brown. He is a solid nickel CB if you actually had competent safety play over the top.

LVE gets one more year to try and stay healthy and regain rookie form.

Other than that. I got nothing.

Brown has made a few plays this year. Plus he’s under contract next year, so I’d keep him.

But he is very pedestrian in coverage and always plays way too far off

Brown is blah. He was brutal today.

He's one of those guys I could care less one way or the other if he's back.

It's pretty bad. I like Goodwin as well, soley for special teams, but technically he's a defender so I'd add him to the list.

Realistically, we need new starters at FS, CB, MLB, OLB, DT, possibly RDE, and then backups at CB, DT, S.

This defense has been horribly mismanaged.

Yeah he can be a bit hot and cold. I say this knowing he is still under contract at a reasonable rate. And if you add another good CB opposite Diggs and actually get competent safeties, the. I think brown is a competent #3 corner in the league.

I hear ya. But he is under contract for a reasonable amount. So I see no reason to not keep him.

I think he is competent as a #3 corner. If they can add a good CB opposite diggs and get real safeties to help him out.

That's about right, it's fair to think we need to overhaul half of the defense.

You know LVE has not been healthy enough to play in a big game since 2018? You can’t trust him. We found three gems this season in Diggs, Gallimore, and Wilson. Tank, Smith, Armstrong and Gregory solidify our ends. Don’t understand the hate for Armstrong he is a solid pro. We need a real 1tech, two linebackers, a free safety, and two cornerbacks.
