Keeping Parsons Strong Down the Stretch

I'm a big Parsons fan during the season. Playeroffwise, Parsons needs to step up his game. Maybe he's getting doubled and triple teamed by some of the league's best players. But his presence fades down the stretch.

I'd like to see Parsons step up his post season impact and perhaps get a few less reps leading up to the playoffs. I'm hoping Ezeiruaku, Fowler, Williams all help in that regard.

A lot of my opinions are subject to change. But I'm pretty firm on this one. On run downs, Parsons may be more valuable at linebacker.

It's just, if he does well at LB that means he may get less sacks, which get him paid. So it's sort of a conflict of interest for Parsons to play LB well against the run.

But if he gets his bag, if I were emporer, I'd give him the bag but tell him he's also going to be playing some LB now on run downs and allow a better run defender also take his spot. Like, if Sam Williams stepped up, you'd have some serious speed there.

Also, that's kinda how he got the DE spot after DLAW got hurt. It's not like he can't do the same thing again and help us at LB too.

It would actually be fun for him, I think.

In any case, we need to keep him strong down the stretch, maybe limit his reps a tad.

We could also use his skills at the LB position on run downs. At least situationally.

If Williams, Fowler, Kneeland, OSA stay healthy and Ezeiruaku pans out, that should go a long way in keeping Parsons fresh.

Switch to a 3-4 ...... he is a rushing outside linbacker.

I do not like the 3-4 personally but he is what he is.
You can use him as an OL effectively in a 4-3 too though.

Ideally, you're probably right. But his skillet also suits a scheme that has him attacking the run, like Eberflus scheme. I think we may see it some. That's what Parsons does best.

He is a great weapon who isn’t going to be allowed to walk away. It’s up to Eberflus to figure out the right role for him.

When the almighty Coach Jones signs him to a record deal but he isn’t putting up sack numbers because he is rushing less, we know what he is going ask to “see more of.”

One of the several conflict of interest situations that Jerry thinks is no problem, and he that can run the whole thing himself because he played guard for Arkansas in the 60s and made hundreds of millions in the business world.

Jerry’s meddling has caused so many problems of late.

I'm with you Rocky I think the edge rusher position is probably one of the strongest on the team and we should definitely be able to pick and choose the situations that we use Micah in.

That said Micah knows that sacks are what get you paid and you have to be in the game to get them so I think that has to be taken into consideration by the coaching staff to preserve his longevity

You know what else will help keep him fresh? An offense that can sustain drives and put points on the board. The more times the offense does their part and keeps the defense off the field, the fresher the defense can be, including Parsons.

If you think about it, he may even help you more at LB in a playoff scenario, particularly on early downs.

JMO.

Maybe, but my point is that the offense has to do their part. If they don't and keep the defense on the field too much, we all know what happens. It won't matter where Parsons plays if the offense doesn't do their job.

I hear you on that. I think the offensive line will help the run game.

Not even sure it’s a doubt that DE/edge is the team’s strength position.

Maybe WR but probably not as deep. When this 2025 team is able to get a lead they have a great shot to keep it.

He is and always has been since he began his career with the Cowboys better when he is up on the line. Move him horizontally along the line, but he is a DE nonetheless. He hasn't played true lb position for quite some time now, so no I do not think they will try to work him back into a lb role which he was more average when he was doing it
