I guess this is what a lot if not most people think the Cowboys are doing, and maybe to an extent thats true.

BUT. They are making the changes where they think they need to. Our secondary struggled some... That was mostly because of the safety position and Henry getting beat (when Newman was healthy he did great). I fully think Williams will be replaced, and Henry already has been.

Believe it or not though, we were actually 5th in the NFL against the pass. We gave up 19 passing touchdowns though. We only gave up 11 rushing touchdowns. And we all know where 2 of those came from...

Bradie James and Ware were good and great last year. But the front office obviously felt that Brooking was a better fit than Thomas. He is a little bit bigger of a linebacker. That is probably what they wanted there. I'm sure we'll still draft someone there. We were 12th in the league against the rush, and they probably feel a bigger guy like Brooking can help get us in the top 10 compared to Zach.

Hopefully we let Ellis go, and let Spencer start his new role with us.

At quarterback Romo is obviously the guy. We lost 2 games, one of which was very winnable because of Johnson. I think we win that game with Kitna. We have a better offense here than Detroit.

One of the biggest problems with our offense was the offensive line... but lets remember friends. Flozell Adams played injured, and we lost both Kosier and Holland.

We're not making changes because the changes need to be in the depth, which we'll probably get in the draft.

Differences in the start of 2009 vs the 2008 season
- Felix Jones (more speed on offense, might even be the starter)
- Roy Williams (offseason will let Romo get his timing down with Roy, and help Garrett see how to use him)
- Tony Romo (his finger will have healed much better by the start of next season)

The Defense plays like it did down the stretch (minus that last game), and the Offense plays like it can, and I think it can do that.

I have no problem seeing this team as dare I say it the best team in the nfl. Crazy right?

Look at Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Our defense's at points were just as good as theirs. If we can improve the defense, and play to potential, few changes need to be made. The biggest change was Wade becoming the DC too.

On offense, we just got to design it to work with what we've got. They can fix that, they have all year to do it. My biggest worry is the run blocking, but hopefully our line is healthy and a strength for us in both categories.

Like Jerry said, we have the pieces in place. He is right about that. Our team wasn't horrible last year. If Romo wasn't hurt I think we could have taken the super bowl, i really do. We were better than Arizona, we were better than philly, and we were better than new york.

I agree whole heartily with your post. However, the only thing I would add is that we need more of a take charge leadership rle from Romo. Yes e has all the tools needed, but need to improve in his leadership. That des not mean he have to go around yelling and screaming, but he must show more intensity and a desire to win than what he has in the past. And the is a direct relatonship to his what he demonstrate in his interviews. The non cheulant (sp) attitude is not something we need out of what should be our #1 leader, the QB. Jst my opinion.

The oline will improve with Kosier coming back and Holland having a full offseason in the offense.

If we let Ellis go, which is a real possibility, I'd hope we bring in another OLB. I don't know what we have in Spencer. And not only that, we NEED some proven depth at OLB if we cut Ellis.

Great post as stated by others. I dont think this team needs these huge signings and I think with the Giants signings we are still more talented than they are its a matter of putting it together and proving it. It may be the homer in me, but I feel very confident this team plays with a chip on its shoulder next year. All the talk at this team will drive these guys. Time Will Tell

Even if we don't let Ellis go, which I think we should, we need help but we probably go the draft route.

I still think we should move Ellis back to DE.

That might happen with Canty leaving

I don't necessarily think that we are more talented than the Giants - at least on defense.

They have a very good OL, good group of RBs, and I'd have to say their overall defense is very talented.

Greg Ellis is too small for DE in the 3-4. Especially now that he has slimmed down to play linebacker.

He has enough time to bulk up. If he can't be moved to DE then it's time for him to go. He's not a LBer.

So far we have lost (or are going to lose) Canty, Roy Williams 38, Henry, Thomas, Pacman, Tank, BJ, and Burnett. We have acquired Brooking and Kitna. So at the moment, we are much less talented than the team that got humiliated in Philadelphia. Yes, we're all glad that some of those guys are gone, but aside from BJ, there's no guarantee they'll be replaced by anyone better or as adequate.

Sean Jones,Springs and Olshansky would be all the FA pickups we need.

Not to mention 11 draft picks to load up on even more talent. I'm excited for this team..

Hey Tuck!! Are you guys trying to buy a championship????

Very true.

So far,

Kitna > B Johnson
Brooking at least = Z Thomas, IMO

IF we sign Springs, I'd have to say that Springs > Henry, if Springs is healthy.

Replacing Tank should not be too difficult, though it may be challenging replacing Canty, unless we sign Igor O.

There is no way Jerry keeps 11 draft picks. Of the nine he can trade it wouldn't shock me if he trades 4 or 5.

There is absolutely no way the Dallas Cowboys were more disciplined or as mentally tough as those teams. And that counts just as much as how much perceived "talent" you have. And I seriously doubt those items are going to be addressed by a duo like Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips.

yeah if we are able to pickup those three guys mentioned, especially Olshansky, I might throw a mini party for Jerry.

I think we're what, $14M or so under the cap now though? I'd like to see what kind of maneuvering Jerry does to move up with the picks in the draft, although historically it seems most of the impact players are found in rounds 3-5.
