Are they invisible based on the scheme or are they really just awful this year?

I think it might be the scheme. Bradie James has lead our team in tackles the last few years when his position actually dictated that he not. As the strong ILB his responsibility was to eat up blocks while simultaneously stuffing the run. The weak ILB was supposed to rack up tackles because it is easier for them to flow to the ball. He just didn't have anyone next to him capable of doing that.

Now he does, with Sean Lee. Sean Lee is just beating him to the tackles he'd normally have. He even beat him on that interception in the Skins game. If Lee hadn't gotten it, Bradie was in perfect position to pick him off behind him.

I don't think they have been awful in the running game. If they were playing poorly it would probably show up in the stats and it hasn't.

They are always a liability in the passing game and they continue to be a liability this year.

I am anxious to see Bruce Carter in the nickel before the year is up.

Seriously, I don't even see Bradie on the field much this season.

I think that's why he offered to play special teams. He at least wants to keep contributing as much as he can.

I also think Brooking's stats are due to the fact that he just simply is not a starter.

They both know what time it is.

Personally, I could give a crap about either of their personal stats, whatever is best for the team and the defense has to be the priority. Enough about how talented the individuals are, we finally have an actual "defense".

Bradie James was not in position to INT that ball. The ball would have hit him in the back, if he was lucky. No way James makes that pick.

dont with the whole speculating and be glad they are proffesional enough to do their jobs for how long it might be and understand they respect the game, the biz and the organization that gave them jobs, if they have to come in to do 1 tackle, at least they are out there, more than i can say for some players on teams. classy guys both of them.

I feel the same way. I'm not even sure Bradie even saw the ball to begin with.

I think there is an ounce of truth in that but it's applied way too liberally. Bradie James and Keith Brookings put up pretty good numbers the past couple of years playing next to eachother in similiar roles that James and Lee are playing this season.

Bradie James has 5 tackles in four games...

He's on pace for 20 tackles this season. I repeat, 20 tackles. Are you seriously going to believe that's because of his particular linebacking role?

Those 2 are sharing snaps. That could be part of it. I would hate to think that to old warriors are weak links on the defense. Makes me wonder if they are just keeping the seat warm until Carter is healthy.

They are at the end of their careers. Their roles have been relegated to limited supporting roles.

A valid observation, realtick, as usual. I would querrie further with considerations to the point that Dallas has suddenly fielded a strong run defense. How much of the time on the field, is involved in passing defense? I think that is a consideration with regards to Bradie James as well. Middle linebackers at the age of him, just don't quickly into the sunset. I think that Matt Eberflus and Rex Ryan will have him better slotted before the season concludes. That's just me...

I have a hard time saying anyone on this defense has been "awful". As a whole they've all been very solid.

I think/am hoping James gets better intergrated into the defense because he's not just in there to absorb blocks as some suppose. I believe Bradie is only 30/31 and relatively healthy, so he still has some productive years left in him including this season. I don't think James is a world-beater, but I do believe he's better than he's shown.

Brooking is a warrior, but at 37 I really think the sun is ready to set on his career.

Me too, realtick. And being a former linebacker, that brings a tear to my eye. lol

But my feelings are turned towards Carter and a vision of a better Burnett in the making.

If Carter turns out to be a Burnett type linebacker, I'll be ecstatic.

Are you seriously expecting us to believe that he just all of a sudden can't play football anymore? Couldn't be the scheme at all, right?

Easy fella', realtick just showed where some of the current footsteps led. Not an overall evaluation of merit, credit, or lack of which. That part was just what it was...but for the record, I'm in the Bradie James camp as yourself. I like the linebacker. But even here, realtick didn't say that he was a camp buster. :)
