Mosely was talking about how he heard Dallas may be looking at Hines Ward.

Don't ge me wrong, I love all the guy has done but where does he fit in? Not gonna beat out Austin, Dez or Robinson.

IMO we might only bring him back so he will coach for us one day. I think they feel if they say see ya he won't come back, or another team will hire him to coach such as Hotlanta.

Keith Brooking has been viewed as one of the vocal leaders in the Cowboys
locker room since signing a three-year deal with the team in 2006.

So to
no surprise, Brooking didn't agree with Jason Hatcher's comments about the
Cowboys not having any leaders.

"It's easy when you're 8-8 and things
don't go your way [to say] we don't have leaders," Brooking said Sunday during
an interview on CBS affiliate KTVT in Dallas. "I know for a fact that I'm a
leader. I don't care what anybody says. I know for a fact that Jason Witten is a
leader. That man works harder than anybody I've ever been around in my life. His
passion and his love for the game and his intensity and the way he holds guys
accountable, he's one of the best leaders I've ever been around.

"I've
seen [Tony] Romo progress in the three years I've been here and [he has] become
a true leader of a football team, in his own way."

I have no problem with Dallas bringing Brooking back as a cheap backup. Vet depth is never a bad thing to have ... and if someone in camp proves more worthy, he can just be cut and given a coaching position.

Just because some players have no value as starters does not mean they have none as backups ... because they can be simply better than the guys who would be filling those roles based on their knowledge of the game. They can help the guys who are starting based on their knowledge of the game. And so on.

There needs to be a line drawn when they become progress stoppers, but until someone shows some progress that would be stopped, then there's nothing wrong with keeping Brooking around.

Y'all do know he WAS a backup last year and was awful? So let's bring him back another year older? There are plenty of better LBs that can be had in free agency for cheap or you could give a young guy a chance in training camp and see if he is a diamond in the rough. Brooking isn't playing special teams so you're just keeping a valuable roster spot for a guy that is only a mediocre LB at best? This isn't 3rd string QB where you can afford to stash an old guy that's had it...you only get 1-2 spots at backup ILB.

Brooking is done...it's time to let it go. We don't need his leadership, Sean Lee is about to be a 3rd year player, it's his role now and well-deserved. Time comes and goes, Brooking gave us a good season in 2009 but you can't be scared to cut ties with him

Garrett is trying to develop a team culture. From everything I've read Brooking fits that culture perfectly. Just because he's limited as a player doesn't mean he wouldn't make a decent role player. There's a lot of disposable players at the bottom of a roster. The best you can hope is that one of those guys can make an impact, who cares whether Brooking's impact is more psychological than physical at this point? As long as it translates to more wins, it's a good idea.

Exactly right. If I'm him I'm doing the same thing, you'd have to drag me off the field.

BUT -- this business and he's done. Sorry, great guy, great player, great leader but go raise your kids and enjoy life. You've earned it.

Yah I too love watching him chase behind TE and RB's all the time it's very exciting.
