Kellen Moore has a blind spot. running the ball

Id really love to see them use daks legs more to keep the defense honest. It’s worked so well
I’m the past. I get keeping him healthy but it has to be part of daks game… it opens up stuff for others when he’s a duel threat.

Amen.. It's time to take the bubble wrap off and put the QB run back into the playbook. It not only fires up Dak but it fires up the entire team.. And it has the added benefit of forcing the defense to defend all 11..

If the receivers are not getting open and not catching the ball when they do.. what choice do you have? And miss me with that "40 million dollar elite QB" nonsense.. Go ahead and point the undefeated 40 million dollar elite QBs out and I will declare them better than Dak.

I'll wait..

Your choices are buy time and make plays. Run more and create.

If you need an examples go watch Mahomes, Rodgers, Herbert, and other top tier QBs.

We want to act like Dak is elite.. I felt like maybe he was that all year. But yesterday when surrounded by chaos he helped contribute to it.

I have been screaming this since he took over. He simply has no feel for how to use the running game to settle things down when the wheels are coming off. He does not understand that 2nd and 6 is better than 2nd and 10 or 2nd and 13 when your line is not pass blocking worth a damn. He fails to acknowledge when they are overmatched and adjust accordingly. The absolute BEST way to slow down a pass rush is to let the offensive line fire out into the d-line and take some of the starch out of it. Not keep dropping back and saying "Hail Mary don't let Dak get killed." Yesterday's game never got to more than two scores difference and the running game was averaging at least 4 yards a pop.. Yet we went 50 pass 16 run.. Friggin three to one ratio!!! Moore seems to have forgotten that when this offense was rolling it was closer to 50/50. I am discouraged by this because I honestly thought that the three game stretch when we killed people by being balanced he had figured it out. But these last 4 games show me he hasn't.. and if he hasn't by now.. he probably never will. Somebody needs to hire him as head coach somewhere.. Soon.

being in shotgun for most of the game ruins the running plays , you cant have quick bursting through the line kind of running play.

I have watched all of them and watched all of them lose.. WHILE playing like crap.. Elite doesn't mean being perfect.. that guy doesn't exist.. It means playing well and giving your team a chance to win more often than not. Dak has done that.. except for two games.. Now if these types of games start to add up we will have a problem.. Obviously we will all be watching to see how it turns out. I am worried that this turns into the 2019 slump again.. Something has to happen to break them out of it. I think running more should be #1 on the list and not just scrambles. It's time to break the emergency glass and go back to his legs being another weapon for the offense.

Big game. Whole world watching. He was part of the problem.

It sucks but for 40 million dollars you can’t just be ho hum I’m sorry.

That was a playoff type of game against a type of QBS we will see.

Did we lose because of Dak? No.. But he was a normal slightly above average player that needed everything around him to be perfect so he could perform. Classic Dak and very very disappointing.

Is their not a run/pass option on every play? If so how many did Dak change to a pass?

You're preaching to the choir, man. I HATE how much we run out of shotgun.. We absolute rob the backs of the ability to hit the line with a head of steam so if there is not a big hole there they just bounce off the mass of humanity in front of them. At least if we are running out of the I we get to hit it with a head of steam. But since Moore wants to throw it 75% of the time, we're going to be in shotgun 90% of the time..

Hater....nothing to see here.

I seriously think Moore could put up 10,000 yards....and people would still complain.

I’m so sick of

First down - Run up the gut. Stuffed
Second down - WR screen for no gain or loss
Third down - Sack

That seems to be the pattern and the don't think for 1 second that the opposite team isn't catching on to this pattern.

Sorry I have to disagree here.. Nothing Dak could have done would have made the line block any better or the receivers catch any better. Football depends on all 11 guys all doing their job at least to a representative level.. It only takes one to screw it up for everybody.. one whiff block.. one dropped ball.. one failure to adjust on a route one brain dead penalty and yes.. one bad throw.. We got at least one of those seemingly on every play yesterday.. Whining about the QBs salary when so much else is going wrong seems simple minded to me. The Chiefs have more losses than the Cowboys do.. Did Mahomes need everything perfect around him in those games and failed to perform?

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me

We had four instances yesterday when we ran for at least 4 yards on first down.. Each time the next play was a pass out of shotgun.. Three of them out of empty backfield. If we wanted to establish any sort of rhythm in the running game those were the times to do it. Run it again, let the offensive line tee off the d-line some.. let one of the running backs get into some sort of rhythm..I honestly don't care which one but at least try.. the Cowboys did not run the ball on consecutive plays once all game.. Even after the 31 yard run by Pollard on the trick play.. the next play was a pass. Followed by a short run by Pollard and another pass. Then the FG. Meanwhile the Colts had FIVE DRIVES yesterday where they ran it at least THREE STRAIGHT times and three drives when they ran it FOUR straight.. THAT is commitment to the running game.. And before anybody chimes in with "but they were winning.." Uh no.. They did it on their FIRST drive of the game.. They were ALSO on the road against a quality opponent and understood how important it was to punch the opponent in the mouth and silence the crowd.. which they did.. That lack of commitment to the running game is costing us.. and will keep costing us until we fix it.

For what it's worth, I agree with the OP here. The second half of this game presented the perfect opportunity for KM to show that he had matured. And imo, he failed. Missing your starting LT and #1 WR, new lg, losing CD at the end of the half, realizing that our OL was underperforming, our wrs core were out/depleted and dropping passes, our QB was off... All of this happening, and we come back out status qou and not make adjustments. We should have come out with more quick passing and definitely more run heavy. If we come out running more, making a couple of 1st downs on the ground, then maybe we get a little breathing room for the pass game. But we never did that. Passing game didn't work the entire 1st half. Why not switch gears and run heavy the third quarter. You find eveen a little succes running the ball in the 3rd and this game probalbly ends different. Half time is supposed to be for adjustments, and we failed to adjust and let KC continue to tee off.

That is pretty good reporting Ronnie. I hope someone lets Moore know if he doesn't already know his tendency in this game was not to trust his running game before being pass heavy. He's still young and still learning as we speak. I for one thought this was gonna be a run heavy game.

The biggest problem I had with the running game is that Kellen really doesn’t show anywhere near the originality with his runs as he does with passing plays. It’s a significant hole in his OC “game”.

It’s not “just” that he doesn’t call enough runs, or know when to call them, it’s like he has no feel for what type of runs to call.

..let me just throw this in. I understand they are protecting a $100mill investment. But you have to let the guy run. He's not Eli, Manning or Brady. Dak has strong legs. Yesterday, just sat there while 7 guys blitzed him.

.......I dont get.. :huh::huh:

..problem with that he's learning on this team best year, in long time. No guarantee, next year or following will be that good. Free agency culprit.

What we seen yesterday was a Jedi mind trick pulled off by KC defensive coordinator he literally tricked KM into believing he could only beat him with Dak's arm. Spags has done this to many teams when in reality the way to beat them is to keep pounding the ball mixing in playaction and quick throws to keep them honest. The problem in all that is we had a OL shuffle going on with McGovern coming in to play along side Steele so who was swimming himself. Then once Jones got going he had KM right where he wanted him because we were missing plays that could have went for big plays and it took Dak and KM out of rhythm. KM got a true lesson yesterday hopefully it helps him going forward.

The running game wasn't there last night?

Happens......
May I dare to ask what our Elite 40 million QB was with his passing game?
