Kellen Moore has a blind spot. running the ball

I have been screaming this since he took over. He simply has no feel for how to use the running game to settle things down when the wheels are coming off. He does not understand that 2nd and 6 is better than 2nd and 10 or 2nd and 13 when your line is not pass blocking worth a damn. He fails to acknowledge when they are overmatched and adjust accordingly. The absolute BEST way to slow down a pass rush is to let the offensive line fire out into the d-line and take some of the starch out of it. Not keep dropping back and saying "Hail Mary don't let Dak get killed." Yesterday's game never got to more than two scores difference and the running game was averaging at least 4 yards a pop.. Yet we went 50 pass 16 run.. Friggin three to one ratio!!! Moore seems to have forgotten that when this offense was rolling it was closer to 50/50. I am discouraged by this because I honestly thought that the three game stretch when we killed people by being balanced he had figured it out. But these last 4 games show me he hasn't.. and if he hasn't by now.. he probably never will. Somebody needs to hire him as head coach somewhere.. Soon.

total agreement.

16 rushes vs 43 passes.

You do know Dak is making a lot of these calls at the LOS.

Not when we huddle up and come out in empty backfield he isn't.. And even if it were true.. Whose job is it to bring the QB over to the sideline and say "The passing game aint working right now, we can't block 'em and guys aren't getting open.. You've missed some throws and we've had some drops. Let's hit them in the mouth with the run a few times and see if we can soften 'em up and slow the rush down.. then we can come back to the pass after the running game gets their attention and they're not firing off the line coming after you like Olympic sprinters in the 100 meters. "

Moore is the offensive coordinator all week INCLUDING during the game.. Bill Parcells used to say "sometimes you have to be stubborn with the run." Meaning sometimes you have to run it just to show the defense that you're not scared of them. Even if you aren't getting big yardage, every time you let your offensive line hit the defensive line in the mouth you are taking a little starch out of them. You think fighting through double teams, legs getting rolled up, bodies falling on top of them doesn't take a toll on defensive linemen? As long as you are getting at least 3 yards per run play you keep doing it because it sets up everything else on your offense. People who only want to run the ball when it's picking up 6 ypc would have taken the ball out of Emmitt Smith's hands in 90% of his games because Emmitt rarely started out breaking off big runs.. He would peck away at the defense.. 2-3 yards at a time.. then gradually that would become 4-5 yards at a time.. then finally it would become 10+ yard runs by the 4th quarter. As long as your defense doesn't let the game get away you should ALWAYS have the running game in play. This isn't some brilliant revelation that only I know ... real football people have made a living out of trying to maintain some semblance of balance in their offense for as long as I have been watching football. Teams that don't even try have rarely accomplished anything worthwhile.. At the end of this season, if the Cowboys are one of those teams who doesn't bother to try and stay balanced, they will join the ranks of the "accomplished nothing worthwhile."

Don't forget the 5 sacks.. that means 48 passes..
If defenders were in the backfield to get a sack then then could probably pull off a tackle for a loss. Same with hits on a QB and hurries. Just my opinion.

Moore has to figure out a few formations and plays and just play physical. this OL needs to get physical starting in first quarter....we were out physicalled against denver and KC....the OL played on their heels rather than on their toes, pushing and attacking...they seemed to be backing up most of the time.

no, zeke just sucks at it lately. Moore had no problems when we were running for 200 yards per game. You zeke aplogists simply can’t admit your hero is playing like a turd.

The slow developing running plays drive me nuts. When your line is getting beat you can't ask backs to putz around in the backfield looking for holes. They're not coming.. Call some drive blocking plays and let them hammer the defense for a change. Then let your backs hit it downhill and see what happens.. Even if you don't break a big one right away eventually the d-line wears down and the dam breaks..
It’s zeke that is slow. Lol

Too funny. What did pollard average last game? Over 7 ypc?

Lol....so the line sucks and that’s Moore’s fault. You people are hilarious.

no, Moore's job is to put the players in position to succeed. if the plays aren't working and the DL is dialed in, then change the plays, formations. run to the outside. few quick passes. screen passes to RB.....make the DL run a little.....tire them out to slow them down....he could have countered their aggressiveness, but he never adjusted. didn't allow his team to settle down and the OL was on their heels all day. sorry if I am speaking over your head....

Not when they are scrub backups.

Your opinion is flawed.. Here's why.. The Cowboys got tackled for a loss on exactly 1 running play.. out of 16.. They got sacked on 5 out of 48 drop backs.. and if not for Dak running out of trouble could easily have been 5 more. Run blocking also attacks the defender and pushes him.. Pass blocking steps back and lets the defender come at the blocker. If you don't understand the difference between firing out into a guy and having him absorb the blow and standing up and YOU absorbing the blow then you have a deficiency in your understanding of football that I cannot help you with.

GTFOH.. Pollard got 31 yards on a trick play.. He got 19 yards on 6 carries when asked to carry the ball like an actual running back.. But you go ahead and run with that BS narrative about his greatness.

More excuses. Every week you want to take away pollards long runs. You are a clown. :lmao2:

4 stinkers in a row for your hero zeke.

You know zero about football. And your a small man that can’t admit his hero zeke isn’t getting the job done.

Pollard isn’t great. Lol

another lie you have to make up. Although he looks better than your hero.

I was speaking in general, we don't know any certainties. As many plays you suggest Prescott could have avoided I could suggest some plays resulted in sacks because Prescott clearly isn't as mobile as the past. Before his injury, he was more elusive. I hope that returns.

I don't see anything that suggests Pollard is great. He's good. Elliott is barely in the top 10. Pollard is on another page.

Yep......zeke is only great at durability and blocking. Definitely not top 10.
