This Dallas Cowboys offense is considered to be one of the most dangerous in the league. But what if it’s not? What if it doesn’t “click” like we think it will? Does the head of offensive coordinator Kellen Moore roll?

Or, what if Moore departs Dallas under a different circumstance?

What if the offense does play as we think they will and average 30+ points per game? Will Moore be a hot commodity in the NFL and be courted by other teams for a head coaching position?

Responses to the first paragraph's what if's would be all time classic Zone excuse mania if it happened that way.
Pure comic relief, lol

Kellen Moore is the most sure thing the Cowboys have had as a coach since Bill Parcells departed. The offense will be fine. Stop with the 'what ifs".

What if the sun doesn't come up tomorrow because a meteor knocks the earth off its axis?

He excels, and he will get rewarded
It's the Jerry way.

I think he will do a good job and one day he may get that chance to be a HC. That is just the way things go, I can recall when Dan Reeves was in Dallas and got his chance same with Mike Ditka and a few others over the years. If losing a coordinator or assistant coach is the price you pay for winning championship I take that any day of the week.

Jerry's experimental quest to find the next Tom Landry.
He's handing over a Ferrari offense to a teen who just got his learner's permit.
Then letting him learn on the job while careers pass and bodies tire as the pup grows a beard and hair on his chest.
This is exactly why at all layers of this organization, this franchise goes no where - except in winning the marketing, advertising and public relations contest.
It's simply cray-cray.
But what can we do? :(

Having a great offense this year isn't a "lose" anything. It's not as if McCarthy has no experience running a potent offense anyway.

If it doesn't click and we have KM and McCarthy here then they both need to kick dirt. They're supposed to be offensive guys and if they can't even do that right we don't need them here. On paper this offense is one of the best in the NFL.

Jerry has been desperate to leave a post Jimmy football legacy to have something to show for 25 years. He wanted that to be Garrett, and nursed Garrett along for over a decade trying to make it happen.

Moore with a roaring offense would be perfectly situated to be the next Coach That Jerry Made, his legacy to the Cowboys. Moore could expect a long term contract and a lot of patience. Under the scenario of a roaring offense, any failure of the team would laid a the feet of the defense, and McCarthy already has a ding against his record in that respect for bringing in Nolan as *his guy*.

McCarthy is already on thin ice. Moore will get credit for a strong offense. So what is McCarthy bringing to the table? Not his personnel skills. Doesn't get credit for Moore. Does get blame for Nolan.

If Quinn fails, McCarthy gets the blame for Quinn. If Quinn succeeds, we're set on offense and defense *if we can keep both* for a while, and McCarthy will stand in the way of keeping Moore. Thanks for Quinn, Mike. Your second pick was great. But now you have nothing to add to the team.

Getting an offensive HC while keeping Moore may have seemed odd, but it looks like another case of training wheels for Jerry's new Coach that Jerry Made. And I think it makes sense. McCarthy brings competent experience in game management and WC offense that Moore didn't have and didn't see with Garrett. They complement each other.

Under the scenario of a great offense, the Cowboys and Jerry are a great opportunity for Moore as a HC. He looks good with the side of the ball he runs, and he's got an owner desperate for him to succeed. Next year, Moore will interview with other teams to squeeze Jerry for more money and an Assistant HC title. If the team wins a SB in 2022, Moore is the hottest HC commodity in the league and gets his pick of teams. If not, Jerry dumps McCarthy and promotes Moore to HC.

If Moore can keep the offense rolling, he's HC in 2023, with the Cowboys or elsewhere, with great terms wherever he is.

Thanks for your insight.
I usually really enjoy your post.

Yes, If offense has success he will become hot commodity.

Yawn on the first question..................

As for the 2nd one............any young coordinator that has a very successful unit is going to be a candidate for a HC gig.
